Dogs are associative learners . So being fearful of vet visits is a common occurrence. It is important to make sure we help build positive associations with things that our dogs perceive as scary or unpleasant. This is where high value treats are a must . Chicken, string cheese, hot dogs, deli meat, etc.
Another tip would be to practice body handling at home so your dog is comfortable with being examined in the future.

When training there are three types of training sessions that you should be practicing. Primary, Secondary, and Surprise. This will help incorporate all the skills you learn from classes or training on your own.
