Sometimes the weather cooperates and makes newer skills really attractive to some of the youngsters. Or maybe we're just making lemonade out of this heatwave we're all enduring?

Boston (Tradewinds Flint x Lauricia Black Bess) has become very professional in his response to bathing. He decided very quickly that having the sweat and dirt rinsed off each day with cool water is wonderful.

When the current real-feel is 95 with 70% humidity a cool bath is a very enticing option!

We've consulted with the residents here and they are in unanimous agreement - the weather today is Too Hot!

Baby Steve was especially emphatic regarding his opinions of the weather. He was most appreciative when the humans came to the gate and took his field to the barn so they could spend the day with the worst of the heat under fans.

We didn't have the heart to break it to him that this is just the beginning!

Now that breeding season is winding down, we're getting more time to spend with the foals of 2025.

The weaned babies are taking to their daily lessons very quickly and are a pleasure to spend time with! Pictured is Tradewinds Boston, our January foal by Tradewinds Flint and out of Lauricia Black Bess.

He is available if someone were looking for a future partner for riding and/or driving. He is pssm1 n/n via parentage and is expected to mature in the 17hh range like his parents.

Please pm us for further info.

Took this guy out tonight and took a quick photo in the sunshine and green grass.

We are very pleased with how Hemi has continued to grow up and mature! He has settled into his 'career' really well this year and has a few mares confirmed in foal for 2026 here at home and in clients barns, with a nice variety of mares booked to ship to yet this season.

This is Tradewinds Herrick (Eaglesfield Brigadier x Tradewinds Horoscope, by Lucasia Zodiac).

We took a few minutes yesterday to visit with a client and inspect their new foals by one of our junior stallions.

It has been incredibly fun to see foals by stallions we bred and raised this season! They're all a bit different from each other, but it's exciting to start cataloging similarities to their siblings and also to aunts and uncles who are still in our program.

We turned a pair of old ladies, and their token young friend out on pasture to enjoy the beautiful grass fields for a couple hours this morning. The old ladies? Were too busy eating to pay the new digs any mind. Their young pasture mate? Celebrated the space and ability to make friends with every mare and foal who came close enough to the fence.

This is Tradewinds Wynona (Lucasia Zodoac x RyanDay Flash's Willow, by Mount Joy Flash) playing in the field while her grandmother, Lucasia Lady Destine, and Lauricia Black Bess ignored her antics in favor of eating.

We turned the 2yo mares out with a couple of the mature ladies this spring. They have more room to run and play and a couple supervisors to keep them from getting too bossy.

It also means we get to take 'family' photos like this one. The mare on the right is Tradewinds Diamante, the better-than-half sister to the dam of the filly on the left, Tradewinds Saphira. By all appearances, Saffy seems as if she's going to be a big mare and if she matures to look like her dam and Auntie, we'll be thrilled!

The stork dropped off a special delivery here a week ago!

Tradewinds Jubilee presented us with this big, pretty grey c**t by Tradewinds Benchmark on the morning of April 4th. Jewel got him out and up with no trouble, but they had a couple issues to work through. Things are looking good now; we are enjoying them meeting Shine and Steve.

Introducing our newest resident - Tradewinds Jimi Hendrix (Tradewinds Benchmark x Tradewinds Jubilee, by Blooming Grove Midnight).

It is so difficult to take new full-body shots of this guy! Baby Steve is convinced that his humans were put on the earth just to give him help to reach the itchy spots. If an unsuspecting person wanders into their field, they are immediately pressed into service. Don't even think of walking away; he's just going to follow you.

These three have been spending their days together more and more often recently. This is Lucasia Lady Destine (R), with her daughter Lucasia Barb (L) and Barbs daughter, Tradewinds Bristol (center). We're confident that Bristol will one day grow into yet another quality mare from one of our favorite families.

Welcome to the world, little guy!

Shine laid down to foal this guy early this morning. It quickly became apparent she needed some help; the foals' head was off to the side and the nose was down instead of up in the normal 'diver' position. Thankfully, after a few tense moments, we managed to shift him enough to assist her with delivery, and he safely made his entrance into the world. Even with his less than conventional entrance into the world, he has hit all his milestones so far!

Ty insists on calling him 'Steve', and since he did the heavy lifting on getting him out and upright, I suppose we can give him this one. So, meet Steve (who will likely get a slightly more professional registered name) by Tradewinds Benchmark and out of Tradewinds Shine (Blooming Grove Midnight x Tradewinds Sizzle, by Cedarfarm Ontario).

These kids....

With yesterday's rains, things are a bit soupy around here. But the babies are all happy to go out and play in the big field. At this point in the year, we aren't entirely sure that Bess knows where her c**t is at any time. She seems to be carefully scraping him off on anyone else in the field and sneaking away for some peace and quiet!

Beans doesn't seem to care, and Bristol appears to have become his new friend. Although her dam, Barb, watches his antics carefully - so far, she hasn't stepped in to correct him.
