We are a small family farm raising and promoting our homebred Percheron horses at the National and World Levels. We attempt to stay away from the pedigrees more commonly found at sales and show barns around the country, hoping to produce quality outcross horses who are capable of showing and winning at any level and produce the next generation. We must be doing okay, our horses are competing in mu

ltiple disciplines and excelling! We are very proud of what we have accomplished and hope to continue to produce attractive, well conformed, well mannered Percheron horses that anyone would be proud to own. There are two mare families that started us on our journey raising draft horses.

The first, Cedarfarm Susan, gave us the first filly we raised, in Tradewinds Sizzle. She in turn gave us the black mare pictured here- her 2014 orphan daughter, Tradewinds Shine.

The second? She's the white mare in the photo. When she came home to us, she was a pretty dappled grey - and held that color for many years. Black Prairie W View's Jet is better known as Lexie around home; she has raised us many great daughters over the years! We currently have her yearling daughter, Tradewinds Jorjette in the pastures here and with any luck we may get to greet at least one more before she is retired to babysitter duty.
Only time will tell!

Its interesting to look back into the photo archives at families that have continued to have an influence in our current program.

Especially now, when we have had multiple generations or multiple cousins/siblings to the current mares.

Photo one is of Ryan Day Flash's Willow, 10 years ago this year. At that time, she was owned by Doug Wurz; we had the pleasure of fitting and showing her that season and quickly decided we wanted her to cross on our young sire, Zodiac.

The second photo is the first of two full sisters Willow gave us by Zodiac, Tradewinds Wintersweet. Its a tough angle to break down a lot of things. But we think there are some striking similarities - and other things that strongly remind us of Zodiac, as well as his dam - Lucasia Lady Destine.

With any luck, we will get a chance to inspect the next generation, 10 years from now.

We spent a little time in the bottom field today checking fencelines and water tanks.
And of course, had to walk around and inspect the mares who are in the process of growing our next round of prospects.

These two girls have consistently made the top of the 'most anticipated foals of *insert year*' list. Realistically, every mare who continues to reside here has made that list, but it is still an accomplishment that has allowed them all to retain their spots in the roster year after year.

Poor Coco!

It's been a rough week for her 😂 Her momma is working hard to keep her fed, so has had some new additions to her feed bucket to help keep her weight at an appropriate place.

Emmy thinks they're wonderful- but so does Coco. So, a minor struggle occurrs during each mealtime. One where baby Coco does her best to body check her momma out of the way to get her fair share (because Cocos own bucket isn't nearly as acceptable apparently.) Emmy, being the next best thing to a saint, tolerates this foolishness and will move out of the bucket to let her steal snacks. And then Coco ends up wearing part of her dams dinner...

Coco has a wonderful time making new friends. Olive, the Catahoula, isn't too sure about this curious baby, but she's willing to entertain the idea. Thankfully, in this instance Coco was fairly polite about visiting.

While we humans have spent a few days making time to visit and enjoy long-time friends this weekend, it is great to observe new friendships forming.

When they're as pretty as this girl, who could resist taking new photos?

This is Tradewinds Miss Madonna after her schooling session this afternoon. Maddie is a yearling filly by our guy, Tradewinds Benchmark and out of DLF Miss Macy (Cedarfarm Ontario x SG Malinda by Windermere King Cong). Like the rest of the Benchmark foals we've had our hands on, she is eager to have something to do and has the prettiest expression while doing it!
We are looking forward to continuing to watch her grow up and are planning to take her out to a few shows yet this year.

It can be a struggle to get new photos with helpers like these assisting!

Baby Coco and her mother, Emmy were insistent that they required scratches when the humans went out and tried to take photos of their pasture mates. They stood as close as they dared and periodically would reach over to remind that they were waiting patiently for their turn.

Of course, that resulted in most of the photos having additional ears and eyeballs near the edges. Much like the photo featured here.

In front of us, centered in their helpful faces, is Tradewinds Shine and her 2026 c**t, Scout.

Some horses are just more special than others.

Within a program, a show string, or just to their people 'just because'. In our yard, Tradewinds Jubilee at times has lived in all those camps, often simultaneously. We have made a lot of memories with her and are thankful we can look back at the photos friends sent us of her showing at the 2026 World show. At what will be her final show; at least with us. We sent her off on her next big adventure last Friday.

We recieved word that she has made it to her new home this afternoon!

Congratulations Cindy and Nelson! We are sure that she will be as enjoyed and adored at your house as she was at home.

They're all just big kids....

okay, so Coco isn't actually *Big* and likely never will be. But her personality makes up for her shorter stature.

Every morning, there's a battle over the hose. The humans put it in their water tub, she grabs it and makes a dash for the other end of the field. Over and over again.

This morning, it was put in their tub and then the humans walked over to grab another horse to bring them out as well. Which turned out to be something of a mistake since it allowed her the time to fuss with the hose and then create a splash zone around the tub.

Obviously, it's her job to splash and play in the puddle she made, right?

How many of our followers have cut a field of hay?

Around here, we are convinced there aren't many smells sweeter than a fresh cut field. The alfalfa and clover in this field are just beginning to bloom, making it smell even nicer than some.

Barring any rain showers, this should be ready to bale Saturday or Sunday. 🤞
