The story at LakeShore is similar to most in that what started many years ago in the spring of 1990 as a young girls’ 4-H project has evolved into a labor of love, which now includes the entire family. Over the past eighteen years, this family venture has brought us much joy, opportunity and togetherness. Our goal has always been to produce well-balanced animals that show, milk and reproduce. Thro

ugh the years we have worked with several different bloodlines to develop our own style of Nubians, ones that enable us to achieve our goals. We are very pleased with the type of animals that we are breeding and are proud and confident to offer them for sale to our fellow Nubian breeders. The herd is located in Northern California, approximately 120 miles northwest of Sacramento, along the "lakeshore" of the largest natural lake in California - Clear Lake. The natural lake and mountain setting provides mild weather throughout the year that everyone enjoys. On average, the Nubian herd consists of around thirty animals that compete on a local, state and national level each year. The Nubians share the farm with Heart Mt. LaManchas, a partnership that was created August 4, 2007 following the marriage of Megan and Aaron Carter. This addition was welcomed with open arms and we are looking forward to what the future holds.

We already doubled our goat show participation over last year by attending the Sunday REDGA show with the Nubians, after I spent Saturday getting everyone clipped and show-ready following a busy week at my day job!

We were thrilled to get GCH Lakeshore Breathtaking Beauty back out in the ring as a 3-year-old in the Champion Challenge Class. She certainly knew it was her moment, strutting her stuff all the way to being named Best Doe in Show under Julie Matthys.

It was an especially emotional win because it immediately brought back memories of her dam, GCH Lakeshore True Beauty, receiving the same honor in 2024. After battling a severe case of E. coli mastitis shortly after finishing her championship as a first-freshening 2-year-old, we truly believed Breathtaking’s show career was over. Against the odds, she fought her way back to the ring, making this win feel even more meaningful.

The legacy that Beauty built within our herd continues to shine, even though she is no longer with us. Breathtaking’s yearling daughter, Lakeshore Take My Breath Away, is developing into our fanciest milking yearling, and her son, Lakeshore Waiting To Exhale, is already siring some very promising kids that we are excited to watch mature.

Some moments in this journey just mean a little more. ❤️

🎉 TIME TO PARTY! 🎉

As a 4-year-old 4th freshener at her very first show of the season, Lakeshore Where’s The Party 5*M, finally found the Party and she made sure everyone noticed! Against a competitive breed division of 19 Nubians, Party was 3x 1st, 1x Grand Champion, 2x Reserve Grand Champion, and 2x Best Udder of Breed

Party has definitely been a lesson in patience for us. From an awkward kid to a gangly yearling, she took her time maturing but that extra time has paid off beautifully. Today, she’s developing into the kind of mature doe we love to build a herd around.

While we appreciate her dairy strength, smoothness of blending, and tremendous will to milk, her standout feature is unquestionably her mammary system: capacious and strongly attached with impressive height, width, and arch to the rear udder, combined with beautiful fore udder extension and overall balance.

Even more exciting, her first freshening daughter, Lakeshore TB Royal Tea Party, will soon make her show ring debut and she already appears ready to follow right in her dam’s hoofprints.

The first goat show of the year reminds us of how much work it really is and why we only managed to attend one show in 2025.

The 3 ring show at North Valley DGA is always one of our favorites and didn’t disappoint. We only took a total of 10 does; 4 Nubians and 6 Nigerians; and managed to earn dry legs on all 3 dry yearlings, a milking leg on Lakeshore Where’s The Party, and a Nigerian milking leg, plus some reserve champions.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, and bid in the Best of the West Premier Dairy Goat Online Sale. The energy and enthusiasm around this event did not go unnoticed, and we’re grateful to have been part of such a strong offering of West Coast genetics.
