We always advocate for continuous glucose monitors for our diabetic patients. They provide us with so much more information and are so much less stressful for our patients.

As you know we serve Northwest Indiana far and wide, but you have probably noticed on your receipts that I (Dr. Dines) call Lake Village, IN home.

My family and pets are fine. The damage to our property is nowhere near what others faced yesterday. The community is somehow bravely picking up the pieces.

I have been in touch with our friends at the Lake Village Volunteer Fire Department to be available today for any immediate animal needs during their rescue efforts. We are thankful that local practices were open to me bringing pets for imaging if deemed necessary.

I was supposed to be at a shelter today performing surgery. Without hesitation they rescheduled for another day, even though it took a bit more coordinating. In the worst of times, you can always rely on the veterinary community to support pets and their people.

There are moments that bring you joy. The ones that fill your cup professionally and personally.

Working with some of the best veterinary staff in the area to provide for a community in need will always check that box.

On Sunday crews from Relief: Brenda Dines, DVM , St. John Animal Clinic, Dyer Animal Clinic and Ark Of The Dunes Animal Hospital came together and worked efficiently to vaccinate and microchip hundreds of animals for the East Chicago community.

We are thankful to the East Chicago crew including the mayor's office, health department, public works and animal control for their support in making this event a reality for the deserving pets and people.

When given the opportunity, people choose to show up for their pets, and those of us on the other end are always humbled by being a part of something so worthwhile.

Brrrrr....

It was a cold one for house calls today, but there is nothing better than seeing our patients sunbathing on our arrival.

We have some ideas on whose nose prints might be on the glass, but we promise not to tell.

Although Ms. Lucy is not going anywhere, we know she would like us to tell you to go adopt one of her foster siblings from ABRA, Inc.. She is not sure there is enough sunlight to share, so you must do this quickly.
