💖 Eloise has been soaking up so much love (thank you!), but sweet Fancy is starting to feel a little left out—she’s ready for some extra attention too! 🐾
✨ Meet Fancy ✨
As lovely as her name suggests, Fancy is gentle, affectionate, and happiest when she’s soaking up love from her favorite people. 💕
This sweet girl is in foster care, recovering from surgery and preparing to start her forever chapter. Fancy has had a few bumps along the way with her knees and hips, but she’s healing beautifully! While she may always have some limitations with high-energy activities, she still enjoys walks, playtime at her own pace, and—most importantly—lots of cuddle time. 🐾
Her absolute favorite things? Belly rubs, gentle pets, and being right by your side. Fancy isn’t a fan of being left alone for long stretches, so she’d love a family who can spend plenty of time with her—whether that’s snuggling on the couch, going for easy strolls, or just hanging out together.

Sweet Eloise is one of our newest residents, and to know her is to love her. Her start in life was tough—found as a pregnant stray, underweight, and with sore little paws from life on the streets. Sadly, she lost her litter, but through it all, she’s remained gentle, loving, and full of quiet grace. 💕

This mellow girl loves nothing more than curling up for snuggles and soaking in affection. She’s done well around other dogs and is searching for a forever home where she can blossom, enjoy calm companionship, and share both cozy moments and a few happy adventures.

Iron Man Needs Your Support!

Iron Man’s Journey: Strength, Spirit, and Smiles

If you’ve been following Iron Man’s story, you know this special boy has faced every challenge with courage, resilience, and his giant, goofy puppy heart. But recently, something sudden and unexpected left all of us at MAS deeply concerned. One morning, we noticed a troubling droop in his sweet face. A few months later, both sides were affected.

After extensive testing—and a $3,400 vet bill—we finally had an answer: idiopathic facial nerve paralysis, affecting both sides of his face. While most dogs experience this condition on just one side,

Iron Man is one of the rare cases where it impacts both. The good news? It isn’t painful. With supportive care, he can continue to live a full, joyful life—one of the best outcomes we could have hoped for.

The paralysis affects the nerves that control his ears, eyelids, and lips. He can’t blink normally, so he needs extra eye care to prevent ulcers. Eating and drinking take more effort, and his famous grin looks a little different now. But his spirit? Absolutely untouched.

Today, Iron Man is still living life to the fullest—splashing in pools, having slumber parties with his favorite volunteer, chasing tennis balls, and enjoying ice cream like the king he is. His unstoppable joy reminds us daily why we do what we do.

🍁🐾 This fall, we’re wrapping our hearts in gratitude (and maybe a cozy sweater or two 😉) as we celebrate two incredible Mack Pack volunteers who’ve hit some truly paws-itively amazing milestones!
🐶✨ Carol Darby has been sharing her love with our pups for 20 years! Every Tuesday and Thursday, she brings comfort to our shy Octagon dogs by reading to them, helping them feel safe and cared for. She’s built beautiful friendships with fellow volunteers and even keeps in touch with dogs long after they’ve gone home. Carol, your kindness has been like a warm blanket on a chilly fall day—for our pups and for us.
🎃💛 Katie Sharpe has been part of the pack for 16 wonderful years! She’s welcomed new volunteers through orientation, patiently supported our shy dog group, and kept things running smoothly behind the scenes in the office. Katie, your dedication is as steady and heartwarming as a hot cup of cider on a crisp autumn afternoon.

Our Mission: is to find loving homes for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs… to spay/neuter our rescued dogs to stop the cycle of unwanted litters… to assist in public education for the betterment of our local animal community… Maintain the highest standards of care for our dogs, including general and extensive veterinary care, assist with one-on-one training & behavioral needs… Provide housing, love, tenderness and compassion all dogs deserve. Truly giving them ‘A home along the way’, for as long as they need.

Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary is recognized federally as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose primary goal; is to place homeless dogs into loving, lifelong homes. Mackenzie’s is funded solely by private donations and fundraisers and does not receive any state, local or federal funding. Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary is Michigan’s largest no-kill facility dedicated to providing ‘A home along the way’ for dogs in transition, founded in August of 1999. **Please note that our facility is not open to the public and all visits to the sanctuary are by appointment only.
