🍅 Tomato Plant Pickup Reminder! 🍅

Did you purchase one of our tomato plants during our fundraiser at Brewing Company on Saturday, June 13?

A few plants made their way back to the sanctuary, and we want to make sure everyone who purchased one gets theirs!

If you bought a tomato plant but weren't able to take it home that day, it's waiting for you! Please send us a message to arrange pickup at the sanctuary!

This isn't a rescue photo.
This isn't the glamorous side of animal rescue.
It's insurance.

A bill for $1,113 that helps protect the sanctuary, our volunteers, our visitors, and the animals who call Farm To Able home.

When people think about supporting a sanctuary, they often picture feed, hay, fencing, and veterinary care. Those expenses are absolutely part of the equation, but there are also countless behind-the-scenes costs that make everything else possible.

Insurance.
Utilities.
Equipment.
Maintenance.
Licensing.
Administrative expenses.

None of them are exciting. All of them are necessary.

It's Two Buck Tuesday.

WE DRAINED THE KEG! A big shout out to our friend’s AND most certainly everyone who came out last Saturday to support what we believe to be an amazing cause. Helping animals in sanctuary and helping FTA save more! We are humbled and eternally grateful for everyone who made it all possible! A special thank you to Mike the Roo coming all the way from Mercy At First Sight and his mom for knowing he would captivate his audience! For the record we thought this was JUST a photo shoot…😂 who gives back!

Obviously, Brio stole the show (and hearts) back in 2024 & sadly last year she left her frail body and is now flying high completely restored! We know Brio would want us to DRAIN-THE-KEG again this year so we should not disappoint! Please come meet us Lotawana Brewing Company

JUST this week alone we have been asked to take in 15… FIFTEEN unwanted roosters.
In the past month, 30…THIRTY!!!! This is completely heartbreaking for us. The countless times we have to say no is overwhelming.
All because people want to be “chicken keepers” but DO NOT to their due diligence AND RESPONSIBILITY of
checking their zoning…
adopting adult hens (because that is the absolute only way of knowing for certain you will get hens)…
finding placement FOR roosters BEFORE they get chicks from breeders or feed stores!

These birds are not disposable like so many people like to believe. People actually believe and most times expect others to correct their wrongs & enable their negligence. They want to threaten us by saying “I will just need to cull them by the end of the week if you can’t take them” putting their death on our shoulders and redirecting the blame and guilt.
No one can fully understand the damage it does to one’s mental health to have to say no to so many lives.
SO STOP SHOPPING CHICKS!!!
It does not matter if you buy from a “reputable“ breeder or from a certain bin at the feed store… You’re taking about a 50% chance that you will end up with a rooster! You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that if you’re going to hatch at home… You also have a 50% chance that half of them are going to be roosters.
Did you know that with hatcheries a few male chicks who don’t get ground up ALIVE …they KNOWINGLY put roosters in with pullet batches AND they “send a few extra FOR FREE to provide extra warmth with pullets shipped through the mail…(don’t get me started on SHIPPING LIVE ANIMAS THROUGH THE MAIL🤬…) Therefore, if you can’t keep them… Or have placement before hand for them…
Then just EFFING stop!
*discloser… we are ANTI breeding anything ESPECIALLY chickens, ducks & turkeys because of the mass killings of male chicks.
