What type of dog water bowl do you use? 🐶💧

The dog water bowl has previously been identified as the third most contaminated🦠 item within the household and can be a breeding ground for dangerous germs & life-threatening bacteria🧫 that can put the entire house at risk, researchers at University Centre Hartpury have revealed.

So, which dish is best to use for a dog water bowl? The bowl that grows the least amount of life-threatening bacteria!

In the first study of its’ kind, Hartpury scientists found stainless steel grew the least amount of bacteria and over time, plastic bowls grew the highest amount, but the shocking part was the most harmful bacterial species (including salmonella, E. coli and MRSA) were most frequently identified in CERAMIC bowls!

Lead can also be a problem when using ceramic bowls, and the endocrine disrupting chemicals found in plastic bowls are a no-go! Also be aware plastic bowls🥣 can cause Plastic Dish Nasal Dermatitis🙀: Chemicals in plastic absorb through the skin and inhibit the synthesis of melanin, leaving the nose👃🏼 and adjacent areas with pink blotches.

So stainless steel🍴 bowls are the safest, right?

USE CAUTION WHEN CHOOSING A FLEA & TICK PREVENTIVE FOR YOUR PET! ⚠️🐶🐱

Popular flea, tick and Heartworm products have a history of being associated with reactions in some dogs and cats including seizures, behavioral issues, muscular/balance issues, and even death. One such product is under investigation by the US Congress. 🇺🇸

According to Congressional Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, the Elanco Corporation and the EPA Corporation knew of the dangers associated with Seresto’s flea and tick collar for several years, but failed to take action! 😡

The Subcommittee launched its investigation into the collars in March 2021, following the publication of an investigative report which revealed that, as of June 2020, there had been more than 75,000 incidents and approximately 1,700 pet deaths linked to the Seresto collar. Since then, the reported numbers have increased to more than 98,000 incidents and 2,500 pet deaths!!🤯

The congressman noted in his opening statement: in 2016, the PMRA (Canada’s equivalent of the EPA) concluded “that the collar posed too great a risk to pets and their owners to be sold in Canada.🇨🇦 Unfortunately, even as the death count rose, the EPA allowed Seresto to remain on the market in the U.S. without even so much as requiring additional warning labels” such as those mandated in Australia, Columbia, and the EU.
