🚨STABLE 67 (Country Horizons) is PERMANENTLY CLOSED;
The last horse has gone, the final bale thrown, the trails are closed, the deer have re-taken the pastures returned to prairies, the last arena has been drug, and the isle lights have been turned off.
Thursday July 31st, 2025, marked the ending of an era on the corner of Hwy 50 and 67 outside of Lake Geneva WI. Previously known as Geneva Equestrian among other businesses, and most recently under my husband and my care as Stable 67 Country Horizons. A property many have emotions tied to; memories from childhood riding lessons, or visions while healing in a hospital bed of horses peacefully grazing in the pastures. Jeremy and I made an emotional and impossible decision earlier this summer to end our time leasing this beautiful 119 acre property. We were so grateful to our previous clients, and business partners, the Jacobs family for bringing the opportunity of our first business and this property to us. Early in the summer of 2023 we thought we were dreaming when the opportunity was suggested to us by their family.
Little did we know the ways in which it would shape not only our lives but countless teenagers and adults who became a part of our community. As well as shaping the next leg of who we aspire to be as people and business owners moving forward into our next adventure. This next chapter, shaped around stability, balance, longevity and safety at the forefront of our search criteria!
While we greatly appreciate every opportunity we had in managing such a beautiful facility; treating it with the respect, care and TLC it was in need of! We had a very different experience with the property owner and family leasing to us. With a large difference in opinion on how to handle certain safety and health related situations making it challenging if not impossible at times this spring to safely operate our business on the property we had to respectfully go our own way from a landlord and property we had expected a different outcome with.
As many know good community focused boarding facilities are harder and harder to find for those seeking a safe place for their horse, without their own land to do so. We had hoped to make good in cleaning up and transitioning this facility to a supportive equine community centered in being safe and welcoming to all disciplines. Where our boarders could have the opportunity for in-house coaching daily with Jeremy Hoekstra, enjoy rides through the beautiful oak savannah and rolling prairie trails, and with the potential of being home to both equine and nature education, while we leased the property. While we did many of these things we have more to do. These experiences we successfully offered, along with many more are on our list of goals to provide for our community at our future forever property!! Through the opportunity on this property we learned of our passion to provide a service and feeling that will hopefully inspire many generations after we are gone! So while we had to make the tough decision to take a break in operation, we will find the property to build a business and community that will be sustainable for the Rock and Walworth county communities for many years to come!
While Jeremy and I are unable to have biological children, the gifts and passion for horses and healing through nature we have been given are that of a power far greater than ours. It is a legacy we would like to leave in lieu of our own children, to pass that down to a community of all ages who look to connect with horses and the outdoors! We look forward to all of the amazing people of all ages our passion and gifts will help in the future, but especially the opportunity to offer a way for youth to find a connection outside of their screens! 💚
Jeremy and I want to express our heartfelt GRATITUDE for every single person who supported us along this journey! THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to our COMMUNITY. To ALL of our boarders and clients!! Also to the boarding facilities, Liberty Lane Stables, Lakeview Stables of Geneva and Monty’s Backacres, who all graciously opened their barns to members of our boarding community!
We will be going into the next chapter of this adventure with more gray hair than we had in the last yes… but also with more experience and passion than ever before! We are blessed with a GRIT or resilience that isn't for the faint of heart.
Outside of our passion of providing equine boarding and training services, we love to take adventure on creeks, lakes and trails around the natural areas across the country! Our favorite destinations being the UP of Michigan and North Western Montana! From those experiences I can say I have never been on a maiden paddle or hike somewhere that hasn't had a few wrong turns or unexpected hiccups, however in Jeremy's tool box of coaching phrases we often say that FAIL-ing is your First Attempt in Learning. Over the years Jeremy and I quickly learned from cold nights, insane blisters and misread maps! For the time being we are resting, re-connecting, and reflecting, while planning for the future. SO STAY TUNED!!
The closing of the gates at Stable 67 Country Horizons is the end of an era but the beginning of the next chapter in building the Stepping Stones of our future! ---- New name hint??? 🤔
So while the sign at Stable 67 now says CLOSED for good this is not a good bye to you all. We are still here, a phone call or text away for a lesson, coaching session, or word of encouragmenet!
The stones are being laid, the steps for the future Ranch are in the making (oh the hints!!! 🤭)
In the mean time please follow (Jeremy Hoekstra, Ashley Nicole Hoekstra, Wandering H Horsemanship, and Drifting Wildflower) for more information, education, and updates along the way!! 🤠
Please enjoy a few of the many pictures of memories from our time on the property 💚, and best wishes to you all from Ashley, Jeremy, and the team at Stable 67 Country Horizons!
We will see you all at the next arena or along the trail! 🤠
