Leashes of Love Rescue's focus is to save dogs from euthanization from high kill animal shelters in Southern California as well as Owner Surrenders that are unable to keep their pets. Leashes of Love Rescue is an organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from local high-kill shelters in Southern California and owners who can no longer care for them. Our goal

is not only to place dogs in well-matched, carefully screened forever homes, but also to educate dog owners about responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

✨ Hi, I’m Bruno Wendelle — Your New Best Friend! ✨
I’m a sweet, scruffy Terrier mix looking for a forever family to call my own. I’m about 4 years old and just 12 pounds—big enough for adventures, small enough for all the couch cuddles you could ever want.

I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines, so I’m ready to settle into my new home right away.

My mom loved me so much. But when she lost her job and became homeless, she had to make the incredibly hard decision to make sure all of us pups were safe and cared for in new homes. My brother Poppa and I were rescued by LOLR—he already found his forever family, and now… I’m ready for mine.

I’m a gentle soul and might be a little shy at first, but once I feel safe, I melt right into you. I’m a total lovebug who adores cuddles and affection. I’m calm and laid-back, but I can be playful too—and I’m finally learning how fun toys can be!

🐾 I’m good with dogs, polite and respectful with cats, and gentle and friendly with kids.

I’d be happy as an only dog soaking up all your love, or with a confident furry sibling who can help boost my confidence. I walk on a leash (I pull a little!), and I love going on strolls and sniffing the world around me.

🐾 Hi, I’m Poppa! 🩵

I’m a 2-year-old Pug/Terrier mix and about 40 pounds of pure love (with a little muscle too!). I’ve had a bit of a journey getting here, but I’ve never let it take away my joy or my big heart.
My story hasn’t been the easiest… but I’ve stayed loving, happy, and full of hope.
 I was first passed down from another family member, and then my mom took me in — she loved me so much. But when she lost her job and became homeless, she had to make the incredibly hard decision to make sure all of us pups were safe and cared for in new homes. She wanted only the best for me.

Even with all the changes in my life, I’m still the sweetest, goofiest lap dog. I’ve got soulful eyes that look right into your heart, and I’m amazing with dogs, cats, and kids of all ages. Even though I’m built like a little tank, I’m convinced I’m a full-time snuggler — I love movie nights, naps, and curling up as close as possible.
I’m also learning how fun life can be! Running, playing, exploring… I’m finally getting to just be a dog and it feels so good.

I’d do best as an only pup or with smaller, calm dogs. I don’t mind if my family works, but if I got to spend my days cuddled up next to you? That would be a dream come true. Snuggles are my love language.

 I’m a 5-year-old, 30 lb Beagle mix, and I came all the way from the streets of Mexico, where my amazing foster mom rescued me and showed me what love and safety feel like. Now I’m finally ready to find a family of my very own.
I’m the perfect mix of playful and calm — I love following my people and doggy friends around, and I’m also a professional napper who can find the coziest bed or blanket anywhere. Seriously… I love blankets. They’re my comfort place.

I can be a little shy at first, especially at adoption events (they make me nervous!), so I don’t always show how sweet and loving I truly am. But once I feel safe, I blossom into the gentlest, most loyal companion.

Some of our incredible volunteers and fosters came together to proudly represent our rescue in bright teal and pink shirts, and we even gave a shoutout to Leashes of Love on national daytime TV. It was an unforgettable moment and such an honor to raise awareness for the dogs we work so hard to save. 🐾💖

At Leashes of Love Rescue, our mission, vision, and passion are simple: to save dogs by placing them into loving, forever homes. We are an all-volunteer, foster-based 501(c)(3) organization in Orange County CA, with no physical shelter. We operate entirely through our foster homes, online presence, and adoption events.

Most of our dogs come from overcrowded high-kill shelters to owner surrenders whose families can no longer care for them. We step in to give these dogs safety, hope, and a fresh start.

Every dog receives the highest level of care — from full vetting and spay/neuter, to decompression, training, and help transitioning from shelter life to home life. We also strive to educate our community about responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive reinforcement training, and proper nutrition.

Our foster families are the backbone of Leashes of Love. We work hard to create the best experience possible, allowing fosters to be as involved as they feel comfortable while matching them with dogs that fit their lifestyle, needs, and preferences. Together, we make lifesaving work happen.

🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED FOR KIAH 🚨🐾 Tripawd Husky Mix | 3 Years | 40lbs

Meet Kiah, our beautiful 3-legged Husky mix who just finished professional training and cannot return to her previous placement. She was rescued from the euthanasia list and has worked so hard to build trust — now she needs a stable, patient foster to keep her progress going. 💔

Kiah may have three legs, but she’s full of joy, zoomies, and love. She’s crate trained, professionally trained, great on leash, respectful with other dogs, and incredibly smart.

We feel an adult-only foster home is best. Once she feels safe, she blossoms.

✨ Kiah Needs a Foster Who:
Lives in Orange County or surrounding areas (must attend local vet visits + rescue events)

Has a calm, stable home

Is patient — she needs ~1 month to fully settle

Has Husky or large-breed experience

Ideally has a yard (but she LOVES walks too!)

Can keep her until she’s adopted

Kiah is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and ready for her soft landing. 🩵

 This girl has been passed up again and again… and it makes no sense.

Kiah has been patiently waiting for her forever family through no fault of her own. She’s a 3-year-old, 40lb Husky mix who was rescued from the euthanasia list and hasn’t stopped showing gratitude and love since.

📣 COURTESY POST — Hazel Needs a Foster or Forever Home ❤️🐾
 We’re helping network sweet Hazel, who is currently with Right Fit Rescue in Yucaipa and staying at a temporary foster. She’s doing well, but the setup isn’t ideal — the foster lives in a mobile home park with no yard, so Hazel has to stay crated while they’re at work. It was an amazing emergency save, but this girl deserves space, comfort, and a stable home. 💔

🐶 Meet Hazel Hazel is incredibly loving, gentle, and easygoing. She previously lived with multiple dogs — including a Husky and smaller breeds — and got along beautifully with all of them. She’s also wonderful with cats! In her prior home, the cat would sit right next to her on the fence, and Hazel didn’t react at all.

When the transporter picked up other dogs, Hazel climbed right into the car, gave kisses, and curled up beside them. She has such a sweet, tender heart.

She’s been through a lot — rescued from an abusive situation, then caught in the middle of her previous owner losing housing after a job loss. The family was kind and did everything they could for her, but Hazel now needs a stable, safe place to land.

💛 Good with: • Dogs • Cats • Kids • Gentle, patient humans

🏡 What Hazel Needs: A foster or adopter who can give her space, routine, love, and security. A foster-to-adopt is a perfect option — a chance to bond with her while giving her time to decompress.

🐾 BRUNO IS SAFE!!! 🩵

What a crazy, sad, worried few days it’s been since Bruno Wendelle escaped and went on the run. The fear of knowing one of your rescued pups is lost is, to be frank, overwhelming. Knowing what to do, how to do it — and knowing that no person is going to catch him due to his fear, speed, and ability to hide like no other — is just awful.

So… what did we do? As always, we did whatever was in the best interest of the dog — and contacting Mike Noon of CatchingPaws was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. 🙌
To anyone who ever experiences a lost pup, the most important thing we learned is this: listen to the expert. You’ll question it, you’ll struggle to not do what you feel is right — but you have to trust the process.

Within 48 hours of contacting Mike, Bruno was safely back with us. It wasn’t easy — he had to be trapped — but trusting the process and staying patient truly paid off.

After back-to-back sightings in the same area yesterday, we finally had a location to focus on. Mike did what Mike does — scouted, assessed, and found the one perfect spot to place the trap that brought our boy home. His dedication is bar none. 👏

A huge thank-you to Mike Noon of CatchingPaws for bringing our boy home SAFE — and a special shout-out to neighbor Ryan, who kept in touch with sightings and updates that ultimately led to Bruno’s safe capture. ❤️

BRUNO IS SAFE!!!

What a crazy, sad, worried few days it's been since Bruno Wendelle escaped and went on the run. The fear of knowing one of your rescued pups is lost, is to be frank, overwhelming. Knowing what to do, how to do it and knowing that no person is gonna catch him due to his fear, speed and ability to hide like no other, is just awful.

What did we do? As always, whatever is in the best interest for the dog and by contacting Mike Noon of CatchingPaws was the best decision I think we have ever made.

To everyone out there that loses a pup the one most important thing I learned is to listen to the expert. You will question, you will have a hard time not doing what YOU feel is right vs. what you are being told to do. My learning point from this experience is 2 fold: 1. listen and 2. trust the expert.

Within 48 hours of contacting Mike, Bruno is back with us. Safe and sound. It wasn't easy and yes, he had to be trapped but trusting the process is absolutely invaluable.

After back to back sightings in the same general area yesterday, we finally had an area we could potentially trap him. Mike did what Mike does, he scouted, he assessed and he found the one place to put the trap that would get our boy back. His dedication is bar none!! So thank you Mike!! Thank you for bringing our boy back home SAFE!! You are the best!!

And a special shout out to a neighbor by the name of Ryan! He contacted us and gave us continued updates of his sightings that ultimately led to the successful capture of Bruno!
