BTS of an IV placement in a bearded dragon 🐉💚

the most common site for IV access is the ventral coccygeal vein. It sits along the midline of the tail and is embedded in the surrounding muscle.

This technique relies on anatomical knowledge and specific insertion method to locate the vein since it isn’t directly visible and is considered a blind stick.

The needle is inserted at an angle and gently redirected along the bone until a small flash of blood is seen in the catheter. Then we guide the catheter into the vein and secure it with tape and vet wrap.

With the catheter in securely in place, we can deliver fluids and medications safely and effectively throughout surgery.✨
