This is our Dina; she is 8.5 years old and came into rescue 3 years ago after being released by her breeder. She was so sick she was not able to have any more puppies, and she was drastically losing weight. We took her as a foster and within a couple days I could tell she has Syringomyelia, a neurological condition which causes her pain. She also has a luxating patella (bad knee) and was diagnosed with EPI in September 2024. EPI is a condition where her pancreas doesn’t produce the digestive enzymes it should so she can’t absorb nutrients without adding enzymes or raw pancreas into every meal.
When she arrived she was thin, weak, scared, and her beautiful coat had been shaved off. She was so weak she could barely step over the drain spouts in our yard or walk up any stairs. Everything was a struggle.
I immediately put her on a raw meat diet including raw fermented milks, homemade bone broth, bovine colostrum, raw eggs, raw tripe, green lipped mussels, Gussys Gut, Adored Beast probiotics and many other supplements that I rotate. She slowly started to heal, improve and gain strength.
When I see her run full speed across our yard, her beautiful coat flowing in the wind, it makes me so happy. I never thought at 8.5 years old she would look and feel so good. It shows the power of real food and how truly healing it can be.
I’ll post a picture of Dina on the day she arrived into rescue in the comments. She doesn’t even look like the same dog.
