🐾 BELLA’S STORY — WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE TEMPORARY BECAME FOREVER 🐾
After Hurricane Laura, so many families in Southwest Louisiana lost everything. Homes were destroyed, lives were turned upside down, and families were faced with impossible decisions—including what to do with their beloved pets while they tried to rebuild.
That’s how Bella came to Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue.
Bella was brought to our temporary setup location, which had been established to help abandoned dogs and families who had lost their homes after the hurricane. Her owner had lost everything, and Bella was only supposed to stay with us temporarily.
But sometimes, temporary turns into something you never expected.
Bella struggled to connect and trust after everything around her had changed. But there was one person she connected with—JoAnna, who became her foster mom in 2020.
And she has been with her ever since. ❤️
Bella had already experienced enough loss and uncertainty. As the years passed and Bella became a senior, we made the decision that she would never have to experience another loss or transition again.
Bella became one of our forever foster dogs.
For Bella, that means she gets to spend the rest of her life in the home she has known since 2020, with the person she trusts and loves. For Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue, it means making a lifelong commitment to provide for her needs.
And senior dogs have plenty of them.
Bella needs quality food, comfortable beds, soft blankets, toys, routine veterinary care, medications when needed, and the extra medical attention that often comes with getting older. 🐶❤️
Forever fostering means we stop asking, “Who will adopt her?” and start saying, “We’ve got her.”
But keeping that promise takes a village.
If you find it in your heart, please consider making a donation to Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue to help support Bella and our other senior and forever foster dogs. Whether you donate toward veterinary expenses or provide food, toys, beds, or blankets, every contribution helps us continue giving these dogs the security they deserve.
Bella came to us because her family lost everything after Hurricane Laura.
We can’t change the loss that brought her to us, but we can make sure she never has to lose her home again.
Six years later, Bella isn’t waiting for her forever home.
She’s already in it. 🐾❤️
