Every horse I’ve owned has a story. Doc once struggled with bucking and separation anxiety. Durango would rear. Ruby came to me in rough shape and full of fear, though it was easy to misinterpret her reactions. Some days felt like progress, and other days felt like starting over. Each one tested me in different ways and taught me to slow down, pay attention, and meet them where they were.
Tequila was the only one who didn’t come with behavioral challenges, but I still had to start her from the beginning. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how far they’ve all come. Every one of my horses taught me something new, and earning their trust was worth every challenge.
