Chewing on Balsa Wood while dancing on a musical floor is very entertaining for Captain. As far as it goes with the musical cube position is everything putting it on a level surface in the cage so the bird can step on it is fun for the bird.

This is my macaws favorite toy of all time. Criss Cross Applesauce made by Seriously Nutz. The sign of a good toy is when it gets used. This one keeps the Macaw’s very busy for quite a few days nice and quiet.

Ricky is here for boarding this week. He’s a big boy that one needs to be “careful” around. I totally respect him. I gave him some packing filler from an Amazon box and he found it irresistible. Keeping him busy is a fun challenge.

Today is deep cleaning day for Joshua’s cage. Joshua is a great eater however that makes for a great mess. Laurel is using my handheld steam cleaner to get into the crevices and food ports. It’s really a cool little machine that you can do indoors cause it’s just hot steam and you don’t get pools of water. It’s one way to loosen the grime and also sanitize. Joshua is up on the overhead rope gym supervising the entire operation.

Pigeon and Bubbles get out every day to supervise the cleaning of their room. They take a few laps and then settle down to watch the “entertainment” from above. We’re all considered hired help to the birds.

Today I decided to become a chef for the parrots. I took a covered casserole dish with a little water in it, and I sliced up fresh brussels sprouts, purple potatoes, fresh jalapeño peppers, and took some corn off a fresh cob and sprinkled it on top. I sprinkled dry mustard and cumin on top of the combination and cooked it in the microwave for eight minutes. Believe it or not the birds loved it. Success is when they eat and don’t toss. Voila!

Nothing quite as tantalizing as a warm cooked sweet potato! Joshua savors every bite. Never tossed away!
