Hilary Briggs
Hilary is originally from Indianapolis, but has been living in the Lafayette area since June of 2011. She graduated from Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She attended Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine for two years before deciding to explore other careers with animals, particularly in relation to animal behavior. She received her certification in Canine Massage Therapy through the Brandenburg Massage Therapy Canine Massage Therapy Training & Certification Program. She has worked at a couple local kennels with off-leash dog play programs as well as a local veterinary clinic since moving to the Lafayette area; she also worked for a veterinary hospital in Indianapolis throughout her undergraduate career. All totaled, she has worked with animals in some capacity for 10 years, but has had a passion for animals her entire life. She is owned by a feisty Jack Russell Terrier named Penelope and a goofy Yorkshire Terrier named Howie. Patrick Holland
Patrick has been working with animals for the past 6 years and in that time has learned a great deal about behavior and how to effectively implement force-free training techniques. Patrick graduated from the Animal Behavior College with a Certificate of Achievement in Dog Training in 2012; he then went on to earn his Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) certification through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) in 2015. He also graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences with a concentration in Companion Animal Behavior in 2014. Patrick worked at a local kennel with off-leash dog play and was an independent contractor for another private pet sitting business. Patrick is owned by a mixed breed pooch named Miley and a senior Border Collie named Bear. Patrick and Hilary met while working at a local kennel with an off-leash dog play program. They started as coworkers then quickly became friends. They realized that they both had a passion for animal behavior and educating others on how force-free methods could positively influence animal care. While both Patrick and Hilary had individually dreamed of having their own pet care businesses, they realized together that their dream could be achieved, thus Pawsitive Pets, LLC was born!

Cats don’t need us to remove all stress from their lives. They just need tools to cope with it.

Teaching a “calm spot” (like a mat or bed) and rewarding relaxed behavior gives cats a safe place to settle. Simple pattern games that encourage sniffing and brain stimulation make the world feel more predictable. Shaping calm around triggers helps them learn to stay relaxed in real-life situations. Modeling calm with slow movements, a soft voice, and gentle breathing also helps cats mirror that state. Over time, these strategies build resilience, allowing cats to learn they can handle change instead of just hiding from it.

On Monday, a few of our team members had the chance to attend the Lafayette Aviators “Bark in the Park” game, and it was such a fun experience!!

We brought along two of our client pups, Bruno and Milky, and they did an amazing job soaking it all in. They handled the crowd, noise, and excitement like pros.🌟

It was a great opportunity to connect with the community, share more about what we do, and celebrate our passion for working with dogs.🐶

Thinking about getting a dog is exciting, but choosing the right one takes more than falling in love with a cute face. 🐶 Far too often, people bring home a pup without fully considering whether that dog’s energy level, temperament, size, and needs actually fit their lifestyle.

That’s where adoption counseling can help. We work with families to think through the realities of dog ownership, including time, expense, training, and daily care, but also how to choose a dog whose personality and needs match the home they’re joining. A busy family, a quiet household, a first-time dog owner, and an active household may all need very different kinds of dogs to be successful. 🏆

The right match can make all the difference. Adoption counseling helps set dogs and families up for a smoother transition, fewer surprises, and a stronger relationship from day one.

Contact Pawsitive Pets today to learn more about Adoption Counseling and how we can help you find the right fit for your family and lifestyle.🐾

Not all dog daycares are the same, and the best ones do much more than provide a place for dogs to run around.

A quality daycare should be clean, secure, and staffed by people who understand dog behavior, body language, and safe group management.🌟

It’s also important to look for temperament testing, proper supervision, enrichment, and rest time so dogs aren’t just overstimulated all day. A good daycare should feel structured, transparent, and supportive of each dog’s individual needs.🐶
