Itty Bitty here to clear something up that is very important..

With our recent post has come a question. We get it. We understand. This is not to be defensive.

We want to be clear. The unspayed pigs are with us. We have never and would never adopt out an unspayed pig. Rest assured, if you have adopted from us, your pig is spayed.

Itty Bitty was also one of the lucky recent spay recipients.

But, If you ask her, she doesn't feel lucky about it πŸ˜‚

We've been keeping a surprise under wraps, hoping to share it once all of the girls had gone through the program, but recent events have made us realize we shouldn't wait any longer.

Most of you probably don't know that many of our female pigs have never been spayed due to the cost. Earlier this year, an incredibly generous anonymous donor stepped forward and offered to make that possible.

For the past 10 weeks, we've been quietly taking one girl each week for her spay surgery. What we didn't expect was how many hidden health issues we would uncover along the way.

Addy, 8 years old, was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the breast. Thankfully, because of this surgery, the cancer was discovered and she is now receiving the care she needs.

Marlowe, 10 years old, wasn't as fortunate. During surgery, veterinarians discovered a massive uterine tumor that had adhered to her other organs. Sadly, the damage was too extensive, and the heartbreaking decision was made to humanely euthanize her.

As devastating as Marlowe's loss is, it also reinforces just how important this program has been. These surgeries are doing far more than preventing unwanted pregnancies. They are allowing us to identify serious, often life-threatening conditions that may otherwise go unnoticed until it is too late.

We are incredibly grateful to the anonymous donor who made this possible. Because of their generosity, these girls are getting a chance at healthier lives, and in some cases, desperately needed medical intervention. ❀️

Please keep Addy in your thoughts and remember sweet Marlowe today. πŸ·πŸ’•

🐷 Honey here... and I've got a question.

How in the world have I spent 9 years at Gracie's Acres and still don't have a sponsor? I mean, have you seen this face? I've got the looks, the personality, the sass, and the snack-eating skills to be a top-tier sponsored piggy.

But in all seriousness, today I want to talk about why sponsorships matter so much.

To a pig here at the sanctuary, a sponsor means the same thing that a home, security, and food on the table mean to you. It means knowing someone cares. It means help with food, shelter, medical care, bedding, enrichment, and all the little things that make life comfortable and safe.

Sponsorships are truly the heartbeat of our sanctuary. They provide the steady support that allows us to care for hundreds of pigs every single day, not just during emergencies or fundraisers, but all year long.

Every pig deserves to know they have someone in their corner.

So while I'm still waiting for my very first sponsor after all these years, maybe today is the day someone decides they'd like to be mine. ❀️

Love,
Honey 🐷🍯

Who wants to welcome Dottie into their world?

As a pet, of course ❀️

This big, beautiful girl has found herself looking for a new forever home due to absolutely no fault of her own.

We wish we could take her, but we would much rather she land somewhere with less pigs so she can get all of the attention she craves.

Happy Father's Day to all of the amazing pig dads out there! ❀️🐷

Here's ours.

It's hard to believe the Indy Pig Rescue was seven years ago. He was an absolute rock star through all of it. Looking back, I'm not sure either of us could do that again today. πŸ˜•πŸ˜‚

Actually, I'm positive we couldn't. Lol.

On a more serious note, we really, REALLY need this new barn before winter. It breaks my heart that we've pretty much come to a standstill and aren't even halfway to our goal. 😒

I honestly don't know what we have to do to get the funding needed to make this place the best it can be for our residents. One thing I refuse to do is lie, exaggerate, or manipulate people into giving us their hard earned money.

The truth is simple: we need it. Badly.

Is it a life-or-death emergency today? No.

Will a pig die tomorrow if we don't build it? Probably not.

But that old lean-to is going to come down one day. It's not a matter of if...it's a matter of when. We'd like to replace it before we're forced to.

If you'd like to help us give the pigs a safe, sturdy shelter for years to come, we'd be incredibly grateful for your support. ❀️

🐷 Saturday Roll Call from the Mud Pit Crew 🐷

Good afternoon, beautiful people! It's Saturday, and as you can see, we've got a packed schedule today...

βœ… Breakfast
βœ… Mud bath
βœ… More mud bath
βœ… Strategic napping in mud
βœ… Supervising others enjoying mud
βœ… Afternoon mud session
βœ… Dinner
βœ… Early bedtime... in the mud

Meanwhile, Momma keeps talking about chores, errands, and responsibilities. We honestly have no idea what any of those words mean.

Who's got exciting Saturday plans, and who's joining Team Do Absolutely Nothing today? πŸ˜‚πŸ½πŸ’¦πŸŒ³

πŸ·πŸŽ‰ It's Five Dollar Friday, y'all! πŸŽ‰πŸ·

The piggies have gathered for an emergency barnyard meeting and after several snack breaks, a few naps, and at least one argument over who gets the last cookie, we've reached a decision...

It's time to make it rain fives! πŸ’΅

While sponsorships and donations help keep the sanctuary going, Five Dollar Friday is what helps us fill in the gaps. It's what helps when a fence needs repairing, a utility bill comes due, a piggy has a medical emergency, or when everyday expenses decide to remind us they're still here.

The truth is, those little $5 donations add up in a big way. When hundreds of people each give a little, it helps us tackle the things that don't always have a fundraiser attached to them but still have to get done.

So if you've got a spare five bucks and would like to help the piggies today, we'd sure appreciate it.

Because around here, every dollar matters, every donation helps, and every piggy is worth it. ❀️🐷

Now who's ready to help us turn a bunch of fives into something amazing?

What's the most ridiculous thing you've seen or heard today?

I know somebody out there witnessed some absolute nonsense, heard something that made no sense, or saw something so ridiculous they had to do a double take. πŸ˜‚

Don't leave us hanging...

πŸ‘‡ Tell us the most ridiculous thing you've seen or heard today! 🍿🀣

We received a message a few weeks ago from a local shelter about a stray pig. The shelter officer was worried about him because he was so nervous because of the dog noises.

I told him we would take him if they got him neutered. After thinking about it, I reached out to one of our previous adopters who had recently lost one of her pigs 😒

She said yes ❀️

Since this photo, this handsome hunk has been neutered and was dropped off at his new home this morning.

Adopting saves lives and keeps pigs out of rescues.
