Yes, I obsess a bit with puppy dog tails and tall grasses! This is Penny. Built to run. And although I have not witnessed it, built to swim. A lovely dog with, among other things, a magnificent tail.

(30/30) Tino has so many looks! Wonderful cat in a wonderful household. When his humans are gone, especially the three small children, the house must seem so quiet! A very strong cat, but very sensitive! The hardest thing about photographing Tino is editing down to a single "take." Obviously, I can't seem to do it.

(29/30) I first met Mort (on the right) as the sole dog in this household. A big rambunctious pup highly attuned to sights, smells...and tastes! (Among other affectionate nicknames I have for him is Irongut.) A hunting dog.... Then the sweet and affectionate Wrigley joined the household. The Ying to the Yang. A dynamic duo that's always a pleasure to see.

(28/30) Two of the three 4-legged Buckaroos in this household, these are Buster and Ernie (with a shout out to sweet little Tillie, not pictured!). They may never sing on stage with their mama, but in the early mornings about Waneka Lake they know how to put on a show for the squirrels and rabbits. As a trio they create a loving, sensitive, sweet pack!

(27/30) This is Ophelia. When I first met Ophelia she was new to this household. When I first met her, she had secured a safe spot underneath the bed. But it was clear from the start that she was not a shy cat. She was just figuring out the workings of her new home. I would talk to her under the bed. She would calmly meow back. It wasn't long before she would strut in front of me, letting out little meow-barks. Call out her name and she comes running. An amazing cat has found a wonderful home!

(26/30) In defense of the "small" dog.... Similar to how some people dismiss cats for being too aloof, too independent, the small dog often gets a bad rap. The small dog may not go on a run with you. He may not fetch a ball or greet you by lunging and licking when you've been gone all day. But once you get on his wavelength you're sure to discover a treasure of deep emotion in those still waters. ...This is Teddy. When I first met him he seemed to just stand there in perpetual cuteness, like some stuffed animal. Now he will often give me a single bark hello. Even among small dogs, Teddy is unique. And I'm sure he knows how to use that extreme cuteness to every advantage!

(25/30) Do**us (green eyes) and Squeeker. I've come to know them very well... I know who eats first, who wins the battle for the lap, and who simply needs a little more affection. I almost take for granted that they come running to me when I arrive through the front door. But I don't take their greetings for granted. I am honored and privileged. I've taken countless pictures of them. I like to think there are countless pictures still in store.

(23/30) This is Ruben. When first asked to take him to a park, take him off leash and let him chase his ball, I balked! Too risky, too dangerous! So many possible distractions in a park that I could just lose him. I cautiously unleased him and threw the ball just once. He quickly retrieved that spit-soggy ball and dropped it at my feet. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. I quickly learned that no "other dog" and not even a squirrel could distract Ruben from the game.

(22/30) Two Cocker Spaniels. One blind, the other curious about, well, everything and everyone! Phoebe and Penny. They go together like peanut butter and jelly.... I often talk about the "out-takes" in any photo session, the pictures that don't make the cut as the formal portrait. The out-takes often get close to the core (if such thing is really possible) of the personality. They've since moved with their adoring human to another state. I will, undoubtedly, see them again one day.

(21/30) Blizzard discovers that puppy Sammy (the Golden) is suddenly 3 times his size and is no longer his "play thing." They have, however, become great pals!
