It’s officially Crawfish Season in The Deep South… and while y’all are out there boilin’, peelin’, and livin’ your best life 🦞🔥… your pets are plotting their next bad decision.
Every year like clockwork, we see a surge of dogs coming in for:
🌽 Corn on the cob foreign bodies
(aka: “I swallowed it whole and now I regret everything”)
🦞 Pancreatitis from crawfish shells & fatty scraps
(aka: “That tasted AMAZING… until it didn’t”)
Here’s the deal:
Those leftover piles from your boil might look like treasure to your dog, but they are actually a recipe for:
🚫 Intestinal blockages (which can mean surgery)
🚫 Severe vomiting & diarrhea
🚫 Painful pancreatitis from all that rich, seasoned goodness
🔥 Cajun Survival Tips to keep your boil drama-free:
✔️ Toss trash immediately in a secure bin
✔️ Keep pets away from the cleanup zone
✔️ Remind your guests (especially your drunk Uncle, and be sure to keep eyes on Memaw as well. 🧐 ) : NO feeding the dogs, no matter how pitiful those puppy eyes get.🚫
Did you know❓
🌽 Corn cobs🌽 are one of the MOST common things we surgically remove from dogs this time of year 👀
We love a good crawfish boil just as much as the next person—but let’s keep the emergency visits off the menu!
If your pet gets into the scraps and starts vomiting, acting painful, or just not themselves, give us a call ASAP.
Stay safe & Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!... Just not straight to the ER. 😉 Happy Boiling! 💚
P. S. Can you find the corn cob?
