I I would start the year by sharing my overall nutrition and horse care policy.
Our feeding system is forage based. Forage-based horse feeds are essential because horses are anatomically designed to constantly graze on high-fiber plants, such as grass and hay, which supports their unique digestive system, prevents issues like colic and ulcers, provides slow-release energy, aids weight management, and satisfies natural chewing and behavioral needs.
We feed free choice hay and of course manage vitamin and nutrient needs with balancer, omega 3 fats and forage based pellets once a day to add medications and address supplement needs. We use slow feeder hay nets in the stalls to encourage all night grazing because I discovered hay given at night was consumed by ten pm.
We plan to allow free choice stall/ pasture time by this is not always possible . Every horse has turnout every day.
