We opened in our new building at the crossroads in Villanow on January 2, 2015. Dr. Ben Benson, DVM, has been in practice for 21 years, and treats both small and large animals. He provides a variety of services including:
-vaccine appointments
-microchipping
-dental procedures
-orthopedic surgery
-laboratory blood work
-x-rays
-EKGs
-soft tissue surgery (spays, neuters, and castrations)
-equine lameness exams
-quick turn-around coggins

Dr. Sumner's girls planned a birthday party for their two dogs, Luke and Tuff, who turned 14 and 13 years old this week! 🎉 At VAC, we celebrate the incredible bond between humans and their pets, and we're honored to play a part in ensuring that you and your furry friend share many more birthdays together!

✨Team Member Spotlight✨ Kensly is both a veterinary assistant and a client services representative at VAC and has worked in veterinary medicine for 2 years. She grew up on a farm just down the road from the clinic in Subligna, Georgia. When she is not doing school assignments or working, she enjoys riding her horses, going to the lake with friends and family, and serving in the children's programs at her church. Kensly brings a fun spirit to the clinic and is always willing to lend a hand! VAC is happy to have her as part of the team!

It is time to head back to school for our summer interns! We are so thankful for the help they've given over the summer. Their eagerness to learn about veterinary medicine and dedication to treating VAC clients as their own did not go unnoticed. We wish Mason, Brian, and Gracie the best as they go into their junior and senior years of undergrad, and also to Kilie as she starts her first year of vet school at UGA!

🐾 CASE SPOTLIGHT: Shelby’s Gingival Hyperplasia

Shelby presented to us with severe growth and enlargement of the gums (gingival hyperplasia/hypertrophy). We performed a gingivectomy with electrocautery. Often, these patients require multiple extractions due to concurrent periodontal disease, but in this case the periodontal changes were minimal. Shelby is an amazing dog, and we are glad to see that she's feeling better! Any guesses on Shelby's breed? (Hint: This is a somewhat common condition in her breed.)

✨ Team Member Spotlight ✨ Meet April Sitton! April is a Veterinary Assistant as well as our Clinical Support Manager. She was born and raised in Northwest Florida. She received her Bachelors degree in Agricultural Science with a concentration in Ag Business from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia in 2017. After marrying, she moved to Chatsworth, Georgia. April has worked in veterinary medicine for 7 years. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs and reading a good book. April makes it her mission to ensure that every client that comes through the door at VAC has a positive experience! 🐾

Over the weekend, Dr. Landers and the after hours techs performed a c-section and delivered 8 healthy Frenchie puppies! Terra's family even got to assist in the post delivery care of the puppies! 🐾

Our Story

Villanow Animal Clinic was founded by Dr. Ben Benson and his wife, Ronda, on March 19th, 2011, in an old fire hall in Villanow. They had moved from the once-rural Cu***ng, Georgia to the scenic farm land of Northwest Georgia. When they were looking for land, Ronda bought a corner in auction across from the old Villanow General Store, so that they may one day build a new office. After establishing a new business for almost four years, and many meetings with the Department of Transportation, Environmental Health, and many more, they finally built and opened their new office on January 2nd, 2015.
