We opened in our new building at the crossroads in Villanow on January 2, 2015. Dr. Ben Benson, DVM, has been in practice for 21 years, and treats both small and large animals. He provides a variety of services including:
-vaccine appointments
-microchipping
-dental procedures
-orthopedic surgery
-laboratory blood work
-x-rays
-EKGs
-soft tissue surgery (spays, neuters, and castrations)
-equine lameness exams
-quick turn-around coggins
-any many more!

We’re so excited to introduce everyone to our newest veterinary assistant, Millie Catlett! Millie is from Chickamauga and has been working as a veterinary assistant for nearly 3 years. She’s a proud dog mom to her sweet pup, Blossom, and when she’s not caring for our furry patients, she loves spending quality time with her son. ❤️
And here’s a fun fact: Millie is the sister of one of our other veterinary assistants, Vanessa!

☀️Summer Intern Spotlight! ☀️

We’re excited to introduce (and reintroduce!) some of the outstanding students spending their summer with us at Villanow Animal Clinic!

Mikayla Moffitt is entering her third year of veterinary school at the University of Georgia. While she enjoys all aspects of mixed animal medicine, her true passion is equine practice. We’re thankful to have such a dedicated and promising future veterinarian learning alongside us this summer!

Mason Higdon is a familiar face to many of our clients from last summer. This fall, he’ll return to ABAC in Tifton for his final semester, where he will complete his degrees in Animal Science and Agricultural Business. We’re glad to have him back for another summer of hands-on experience!

Kilie Wilson is another returning intern you may recognize. She graduated from the University of Georgia in May with a degree in Animal Bioscience and was selected to begin veterinary school early so she will be going into her second year in the fall. We’re thrilled to have this smart cookie 🍪 back with us for another summer!

Please join us in welcoming Mikayla, Mason, and Kilie! We’re proud to be a part of their journey and can’t wait to see all they accomplish in the veterinary profession. 🐾

When toys turn into snacks, a fun play session can quickly become a medical emergency. Foreign body obstructions occur when a pet swallows an object that becomes lodged in the digestive tract. Common signs to watch for include:

• Persistent vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Straining to defecate
• Blood in the stool
• A painful or tender abdomen
• Extreme lethargy
• Loss of appetite

If you notice any of these symptoms and suspect your pet may have eaten something they shouldn't have, contact your veterinarian immediately. Early intervention can make all the difference. Thankfully, that's exactly what this sweet family did. They acted quickly when they noticed something was wrong, allowing us to provide the care their furry family member needed. We're happy to report that this patient is now back home, recovering comfortably and on the road to feeling much better. ❤️
