We are at FULL‼️capacity- as most shelters in Acadiana are.
But, behind every post we make about high volumes of intakes, stands a human with the power to have made a difference. ❤
👉Found a stray? We ask that you hold on to it for 24-48 hours in hope to find it’s owner. Make a found animal report: https://www.lafayettela.gov/lascc/lost-found Post pictures on neighborhood pages, ask the neighbors if they recognize the pet. We can provide resources to help you hold on to the pet.
👉Need to surrender? We get it, life happens and circumstances arise that you may need to rehome your pet. As an open-intake municipal shelter, it’s our job to triage. We have a finite number of kennels. The injured stray that was just hit by a car needs our kennel more than your pet that is currently being loved in your home. We ask that you attempt to rehome your pet since you know the most about him/her. Our kennels are loud and stressful, which could potentially change the behavior of your pet and therefore make them less adoptable. We have SO many tips to help you rehome and we are here to help! One tip is posting your pet on https://rehome.adoptapet.com/
👉Spay/Neuter! We offer FREE spay/neuter services for Lafayette Parish owned pets thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation Email us at [email protected] to schedule an appointment.
👉ADOPT. Purchasing a dog from a breeder is expensive. On top of vet bills for vaccinations, altering, etc. 💸 Our amazing pets are $30 or less and FULLY VETTED. Most of them are already trained and if they aren’t- we offer free training. It’s more than a good deal- it’s saving a LIFE!
