From the Fields of Pembrokeshire to Royal Palaces
The origins of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi are believed to trace back to at least the 10th century in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is thought that the breed's ancestors were brought to Wales by Flemish weavers. These dogs were developed as all-around farm dogs, adept at herding cattle and sheep by nipping at their heels and ducking under their kicks. Their low stature was a distinct advantage in this line of work.

A Miniature with a Grand History: While often associated with France, the Poodle breed originated in Germany as a water retriever. The name "Poodle" comes from the German word "pudel," meaning "to splash in the water." Their elaborate haircuts, now a hallmark of the breed, were initially functional, designed to protect their joints and vital organs from cold water while allowing for streamlined swimming. The smaller Miniature and Toy varieties were later bred down from the Standard Poodle, primarily to serve as companions for the European aristocracy and, at times, as talented circus performers.
