Meet Zachary, a 1.5 year old Siberian Husky mix who is looking for one very important thing... a forever family! Zachary originally came to us as a stray found in Abita Springs, and he has been waiting since February for a family to call his own. We think it is about time someone comes to claim this handsome, fluffy comedian!

Now, yes, he is a Husky. So naturally, he comes with movie star good looks, a big personality, and possibly a few strong opinions about absolutely everything. But as far as his energy level, he is actually pretty calm for a husky! We cannot promise he will sing you the song of his people, but we also cannot promise he will not. Huskies are known for being intelligent, active, social, and wonderfully entertaining. They tend to thrive with plenty of physical exercise, mental stimulation, and positive training to keep those clever Husky brains busy.

The good news is Zachary already has plenty going for him. He is potty trained, great with other dogs, knows basic commands, is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines & prevention, and he earned an excellent score on his temperament test. He is currently living with a foster, enjoying the comforts of home life while patiently waiting for his perfect match. They report he is great with kids, loves his snuggles, and has already mastered the fine art of being a bed hog!

🐾 MEET JUNE — A125014 🐾

June has been waiting far too long for someone to finally choose her. 💛

June came to us as a stray on March 16, 2026, alongside her brother Johnny. She’s now 1 year and 5 months old, about 60 lbs., heartworm negative, healthy, and apparently blessed with some pretty great genes — just look at those gorgeous pearly whites! 🦷✨ This girl is seriously photogenic and always ready for her close-up. 📸

But June is so much more than a pretty face.

She passed her SAFER behavior evaluation with fantastic scores of 1–2 and has done great with other dogs. She has been kenneled with dogs of all different personalities — even those annoying, overly enthusiastic pups who haven't quite learned their manners yet. 😂 June handles them like a champ!

🏡 A few things to know about June:
• She doesn't try to climb all over the furniture or jump all over you.
• She LOVES chasing toys and playing.
• She gives some pretty great kisses. 💋
• She's on the higher-energy side, but it's very manageable.
• She's dog-friendly and has handled a variety of canine personalities.
• She hasn't had much formal training yet, so she does need some work on her leash manners.

The best part? We've already seen what a little structure and training can do for this family. June's brother Johnny has been excelling in his foster home with Magnolia Paws , and we would love to see June finally get the same opportunity to show everyone just how incredible she can be.

June doesn't need to be a perfectly trained dog before someone chooses her. She just needs someone willing to give her the time, consistency, and love to become the amazing dog we already know is in there.
She has spent more than five months waiting. It's time for June to trade the shelter for a home of her own. 🏡

UPDATE 1:41pm Still in need of foster

🙏FOSTER NEEDED for Sweet Nursing Momma🙏

We are currently OUT OF SPACE in our cat rooms, and this sweet nursing mom and her 7 healthy, absolutely adorable babies could really use a quiet foster home! ❤️

The good news? Momma is truly doing all the work! She is keeping her babies fat, fed, and squeaky clean, and they are healthy as can be. All she needs is a quiet, slightly confined space where she can safely care for her little ones and continue being the amazing mom she is.

We will provide everything you need, including food, litter, a whelping box, and supplies. You provide the safe space and a little peace and quiet!

Not sure you’re ready to foster a mom and babies? That’s okay! We have PLENTY of cats and kittens at the shelter who are also looking for a foster home to relax in while they await surgery or their forever homes.

On July 16th, Officer Morgan responded to a heartbreaking call about a “very weak and frail dog” stuck in the mud who needed help. What she found was Yena, lying in a ditch, covered in mud, unable to stand on her own and severely emaciated with a body condition score of just 1 out of 9.

Despite the hopelessness she had faced, Yena was sweet and calm from the very beginning. Officer Morgan gave her the name Yena, and since arriving at the shelter, she has been slowly but surely making progress. Our animal care staff reports that she keeps her kennel neat and tidy, leading them to believe she is already potty trained.

Helping a dog gain weight, especially one as extremely emaciated as Yena, is not a quick process. It takes a careful feeding plan, close monitoring, and a TON of patience. Yena weighed just 29 pounds when she arrived and is now almost 40 pounds! Every pound is a victory, and she is continuing to heal and grow stronger.
Yena is also heartworm positive, but the shelter will cover the cost of her heartworm treatment. She will need a patient home that understands she is still recovering and will need time to rest and heal. Our Enrichment team believes she would do best with calm dogs who will respect her need for space and recovery time.
Yena has already come so far from the weak and frail dog Officer Morgan found that day. Now, she just needs the time, patience, and love to continue her journey.

Favorite Hobby: Submerging 90% of her body in water and staring soulfully into the horizon.

Ideal Home: Anyone with a kiddie pool, a hose, a splash pad, or a love for silly, happy dogs!

Cookie is a 9-year-old spayed female American Bulldog who is Heartworm Negative and about 90lbs. Her previous home reports she has lived with livestock, cats and other dogs without issue!
