MAGA reared in the chute on Day 1. On Day 7 she stopped on “whoa” and walked straight up to me. 🐴
Her name means “magician” in Spanish. Fitting, because what she pulled off this week felt like magic. ✨
She came in completely unhandled. No halter, no trust. Every person was a threat to her.
So I didn’t rush it. No forcing the halter on, no chasing her down. Just showing up every day, staying calm, and letting her decide I was okay.
A few things she reminded me of this week 👇
🐴 To a horse that’s never been touched, a rope over the head feels like a predator grabbing her. Fighting it is instinct, not attitude.
👀 Horses have the biggest eyes of any land mammal, and they miss nothing. She was reading my body language days before she let me touch her.
🧠 Research shows horses can tell a happy human face from an angry one. If you walk in tense, they already know.
Seven days. From rearing in the chute to choosing to walk to me. 🤍
