Welcome to Cedar River Corgis! We are the McQuilkin family located in La Porte City, Iowa. We are passionate about raising quality Pembroke Welsh Corgis in both standard and fluffy coats. Every puppy is raised with love, intentional socialization, and plenty of family interaction to help them grow into confident and well-rounded companions.
My name is Kaylee McQuilkin, I am 27 years old and I work full-time at our farrow-to-wean operation, run a small farm stand in our local community, and am incredibly grateful to raise and care for our corgi puppies. Between farm life, family life, and everything in between, I truly love the life we’ve built and feel blessed to share it with all of you.
My husband, Nick McQuilkin, currently works full-time at our local co-op overseeing operations and somehow still finds time to be the full-time maintenance guy at our hog farm too. 😂 He’s one of the hardest-working people I know, and his work ethic is unmatched. I’m incredibly thankful to build this life alongside him. We’ve always shared a deep love for corgis, and I feel so lucky to have a partner who is just as passionate about our dogs and puppies as I am.
Nick and I are high school sweethearts, and one of the greatest gifts he’s given me is introducing me to agriculture. It wasn’t a world I grew up in, but it didn’t take long for me to realize it was exactly where I belonged. Together we’ve built a life centered around family, farming, and livestock, and we’re grateful every day for the opportunity to do what we love.
Our greatest blessing is our daughter, Grace. She is the brightest light in our world and the heart behind so much of what we do. From the moment puppies are born, she is right there loving on them, talking to them, and helping care for them. Her gentle nature and deep love for animals make her an important part of our program, and the puppies are lucky to have her as one of their very first friends.
One of the greatest blessings of this journey has been the people we’ve met along the way. We’ve connected with families from all across the country, and many of them have become lifelong friends who truly feel like family.
