Animal Caretaker – Private Family Ranch

La Pine, Oregon | Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week
Starting Salary: $65,000 + Benefits

Do you love animals and enjoy working outdoors?

A beautiful private family ranch in La Pine, Oregon is looking for a dependable, hardworking Animal Caretaker to join our team. This is a hands-on position for someone who genuinely enjoys caring for animals and takes pride in keeping them healthy, happy, clean, and safe.

Animals You’ll Care For

The ranch is home to a variety of animals, including:

Horses
Goats and pigs
Chickens and ducks
Family dogs

What You’ll Do

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include feeding and watering animals, grooming horses, cleaning stalls and animal areas, collecting eggs, maintaining clean water troughs, monitoring animal health and behavior, and keeping barns, coops, pens, and feed areas clean and organized.

You’ll also help check fencing, gates, pastures, and enclosures for safety issues and assist with veterinarian and farrier visits when needed, training of horses and possibly riding lessons for the family’s children.

Starting at $65,000 during an initial 3-month trial period, and increasing to $75,000 annually upon successful completion.

Full-Time Ranch Hand – Private Family Ranch

We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and versatile Ranch Hand to join our team at a large private family ranch in Oregon. This is a full-time, year-round position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining a beautiful property, and is comfortable handling a wide variety of responsibilities.

This is a hands-on position where no two days are exactly the same. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, observant, willing to learn, and able to recognize what needs to be done without always needing direction. We are looking for someone who wants to become a trusted, long-term member of our ranch and estate team.

Responsibilities

Duties will vary depending on the season and needs of the property and may include:

• General ranch and property maintenance
• Mowing, w**d eating, brush clearing, and w**d control
• Landscaping and grounds maintenance
• Maintaining lawns, roads, trails, and outdoor areas
• Irrigation monitoring, maintenance, and basic repairs
• Fence installation, maintenance, and repair
• Tree and brush trimming and cleanup
• Operating tractors, mowers, UTVs, trailers, and other ranch equipment
• Basic construction, carpentry, and property improvement projects
• Assisting with equipment and vehicle maintenance
• Snow removal and winter property maintenance
• Maintaining barns, shops, storage areas, and other ranch facilities
• Assisting with deliveries, loading/unloading materials, and moving equipment
• Supporting animal-related tasks when needed
• Assisting with larger ranch projects and working alongside outside contractors and vendors
• Keeping tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas clean and organized
• Identifying maintenance issues and communicating them to management
• Assisting with other property needs as they arise

Because this is a private family property, flexibility and discretion are extremely important. Priorities can change, and we are looking for someone who is comfortable shifting between projects and helping wherever needed.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous ranch, farm, landscaping, construction, maintenance, or similar hands-on experience
• Is dependable, punctual, and takes responsibility for their work
• Has a strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
• Can prioritize tasks and manage their time effectively
• Is mechanically inclined and comfortable using tools and equipment
• Has strong attention to detail
Is willing to learn new skills and take direction
• Is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Can safely perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working on their feet for extended periods
• Understands the importance of professionalism, privacy, and discretion when working for a private family
• Has a valid driver’s license and clean/reliable driving history

Experience operating tractors, skid steers, excavators, chainsaws, or other ranch and landscaping equipment is a plus.

Experience with irrigation, fencing, carpentry, construction, landscaping, equipment maintenance, or general property maintenance is also highly valued.

Schedule

Full-time, year-round position
Approximately 40 hours per week
Schedule may vary depending on ranch needs, projects, weather, and season

Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary: $65,000 annually during an initial 3-month trial period

Upon successful completion of the trial period, salary increases to $75,000 annually.

Diamond Bar G Ranch is a privately owned estate with multiple residences, guest accommodations, and beautifully maintained properties. This role also requires travel with the family to support housekeeping needs across various locations, primarily during the summer months to their beach home and occasionally to their Portland residence (typically no more than 3 months out of the year), with travel responsibilities shared on a rotational basis among the housekeeping team.

What You’ll Do

As a Housekeeping Professional, you will help maintain our residences to the highest standards by:

• Cleaning and caring for luxury homes with exceptional attention to detail.
• Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing all living spaces.
• Making beds and changing linens.
• Caring for fine furnishings, finishes, and specialty materials.
• Organizing closets, storage areas, and household supplies.
• Laundry, ironing, and garment care.
• Execute meal service throughout the day prepared by private chefs.
• Preparing guest home for arrivals.
• Monitoring inventory and communicating supply needs.
• Working closely with the housekeeping team to maintain consistent standards.
• Assisting with seasonal deep cleaning and special projects.
• Traveling with the family as needed to maintain consistent housekeeping standards across all residences.
• Occasional care for principals pets including dogs, cats, and a bearded dragon, such as; walking dog, maintaining food and water levels for bearded dragon, feeding dogs and cats on occasion, scooping and cleaning cat litter boxes.
