Our Story

Happy Hearts GSD Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of as many dogs as possible from high kill shelters, with an emphasis on German Shepherds and GSD mixes. Once pulled from the shelters, they are placed in foster homes where they are socialized and rehabilitated according to their individual needs. The primary behavioral issues we deal with are trust building and proper socialization skills so they can function in their future forever homes. We rescue many senior dogs that often have high medical expenses and it is only though the generosity of our donors that we are able to save them. Fosters who generously open their homes and hearts to dogs desperate for love and support are the foundation of everything we do. Volunteers who are able to help with walking or who have special skills are always needed.
