I learned today that one of our favorite horses, Dakota, was put down yesterday.

Apparently he developed severe colic and had to be put down. I'm so happy that Giselle Peterson, a former student and lessee and the primary reason I originally bought him, was able to continue riding & loving him for a few years after I sold him. A large (17.2) gentle giant, who was very sweet and loving, he was a joy. Some of the best rides I had out in the pineapple fields were on him, he ran like a freight train!

I will miss him greatly, as I'm sure anyone who oml the opportunity to spend time with him will, as well.

Happy trails Dakota...

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
Understand, this vote tomorrow is honestly NOT about the individual issues: Economy, Crime, Climate Change, Right to Choose, Immigration, etc... It IS about the fundamental existence of our DEMOCRACY!!!

Without that, the issues are/will be moot and likely unattainable. What kind of a world do you want your children and their children to grow up in? A free country of choice and open speech, even though it may be hateful? Or a dictatorial, authoritarian nation where everything you do, say and even eventually believe is controlled.

As imperfect as our system is, it's still allows for choices unlike any other system in the world! Where you can criticize your leaders, your neighbors & others without fear of being executed or jailed. Where you can freely love who you choose, as Jesus believed, without repercussions. Where you can aspire to, and often even become, anything you choose.

A country where you can vote freely, & your vote actually counts, and where you can reasonably trust the results. Where those voted out gracefully give way to those voted in.

Only with a system like that will we actually have a choice and the ability to have an impact on the life issues that actually matter to, and affect, each of us.

CHOOSE FREEDOM! CHOOSE CHOICE! CHOOSE DEMOCRACY!

VOTE.

After giving the Big Island a try for just over a year, we are returning to Maui permanently. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and discovered the vast beauty & diversity this amazing island has to offer, but Maui and our lovely ranch are calling us home.

Additionally, I'm BORED with retirement and miss the horses, so upon our return on May 30, we are going to perform some needed (after the failed trial of having someone use, and trash, the facility) repairs and upgrades and resume full equine operations!

We have several boarding openings, and will again offer lessons on a limited basis. All boarding will be SELF-SERVE, while encouraging a feeding rotation program amongst the boarders. Lessons will resume the emphasis of proper riding technique and understanding of a horses movement & mind, and using subtle light cues to create the optimum rider/horse partnership!

Call or text for info, and we look forward to our return and working with you... again.

Had a great show, all 11 riders did awesome and we scored perfect weather! Warm night, light breeze, half moon, lights worked well, horses performed well, riders all improved, 1st show for several, fun costumes & awesome grinds!! Thnx to all who joined us, and see you at the next one!
