These are some of the peonies I dug up & rescued from an abandoned lot in my neighborhood a few years ago.

This lot was/is profoundly abandoned. The condemned house was torn down by the city, and codes enforcement indiscriminately mows the whole lot a couple times a year. I felt sorry for those old peonies bushes and took them home to plant under my apple tree. Do you ever rescue plants you feel sorry for?
