It is Vet Tech appreciation week! We want to take this week to recognize our Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician , Brandy Prosise!

To become a licensed veterinary medical technician (LVMT) in Tennessee, you must graduate from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program, pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE), and be licensed by the Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. The state requires licensing to ensure technicians have the necessary technical skills for tasks like administering anesthesia and conducting diagnostic tests. To maintain the license, LVMTs must complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years.

This is no small feat and we want to make sure she receives the recognition she has earned!

- -Microchip Information Update-

Dear Butler Veterinary Services, PLLC Clients,

It has come to our attention that the microchip registry, Save This Life, was shut down on January 24, 2025.

This means if this is the company your pet was registered with, your pet’s information is no longer stored on a registry. This is the company we have used for all microchips in our clinic.

We are recommending you re-register with another company.

Some companies are free, and some require a registration fee.

Here are a few options:

FreePetChipRegistry.com (free option)

PetLink.net

HomeAgain.com

AKCReunite.org

You DO NOT need a new microchip. You can use any of the above links to re-register the chip with a new company.

If your pet had a microchip prior to coming to BVS, you can look up your pet using your 15-digit ID to see what company with which your pet has been registered by going to

https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/.

If you need your pet’s ID number, please email

[email protected]

so we can provide you this 15-digit number. We will need you to provide your name and your pet’s name for us to provide this information.

Please be patient with our responses as we have hundreds of clients that have been registered through Save This Life.

We want to apologize for this extreme inconvenience but do want to support you all in re-registering your pets to keep them safe.

Thank you for your trust and patience,
Butler Veterinary Services, PLLC

After scanning lost pet, enter the number into the microchip registry tool to search for the manufacturer of the chip.
