As breeders Lori and I tried to learn as much as we could over the years, learned alot and seen alot. sometimes though we still get hit in the gut with news that we did not expect. Over the last 2 days I have taken one our four legged children who is one of those special fur babiess that just touch your heart in a way that no other one has in for test. Reign is standard Bernadoodle we got when she was 8 weeks old, she turned out to be a big teddy bear, so gentle, so chill, and alot of patence with other dogs especially the little ones. Today we recieved the new that she has bone cancer, experts will tell you that they can prolong life but there is no treatment that will completely heal her, even with amputation of the affected leg and chemo the survival rate is very low and it will only give her a few months, 2-3 usually, anything longer is almost 0 to15%, anything over 10 months 0. Now comes the hard part, Lori and I have a decision to make of when, as much as I want to be selfish I can not, I have to do what is right for her not me. We have made this decision before for other four legged children but they were toward the end of ther lifes and they were ready and they let us know. Reign just turned 5. What we decide will be up to Lori and I but that does not make it easy, I have went through a couple of boxes of kleenexes and will go through more.
