Let me tell you about this past week…
In just 7 days I received calls or messages for assistance with 5 dogs, 7 puppies, 3 kittens and 3 cats. Ten different situations. None of which we were able to help mostly due to needing adoptions. Please share our adoption posts.
Our small rescue is located in rural Crawford County we are shelter based meaning almost all of our animals reside with us. (We do have one awesome foster home that has been busy with a mom cat and kittens as well as being busy volunteering at the rescue’s shelter.)
We operate with just one full time volunteer, and 6 part-time volunteers. Which means 3 days a week one person does everything and other days a volunteer may be helping anywhere from an hour to 3 hours doing anything from washing all the dirty litter boxes and dishes to scooping the 20+ litter boxes to helping keep the cat areas clean and the cats fed.
My reason for explaining is part of what has to be done 24/7 is respond to requests for assistance. We would like to explain that if you need assistance we are happy to help if we can. However, we will not take strays as it is illegal and we will not take more than we can care for properly. So sometimes we have to say no.
It is expensive to operate even a small rescue and so we have to fundraise for donations to cover expenses.
I ask that you send requests to 478-343-8998 as a text or email [email protected].
I do NOT have time to return every call. I also find it helpful to have documentation of our conversation as I certainly can’t remember everyone’s situation months down the road.
Hopefully this will help clarify the reality of rescue. We appreciate so much those that VOLUNTEER, those that DONATE, and those that SHARE our posts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING, ADOPTING OR SHARING OUR POSTS.
