PUPPIES!!! This past week has been good for my heart and mind. After A LOT of work getting the kennels ready in the backyard, I finally was able to bring my 8 adult sled dogs home. Then yesterday, Trish, Lou and I loaded up Fava's 5 puppies (from her tryst this summer with Mackey, their handsome dad) and brought them to the Howl-A-Day Inn until I can get set up for them at my place. They're settling right in in the sled dog kennels and will be getting lots of love and attention from those of us who work there - and from Trish's older sled dogs that include their grandmother, Makalu. These guys are super chill and sweet and they look like so much like their mom.

Shout out to Pickle 🥒 for being an awesome babysitter to them for all of these months. She's such a kind and gentle soul - always was patient with them and kept them in line. It made me sad to separate them, but changes are inevitable. 💔 I hope Pickle knows I love her and appreciate her. I can't imagine my life without these really special dogs I've come to know over the past year and a half. They've changed me.

There are a lot of thank you's to be given throughout the process of establishing the kennel. They'll all come in time, but yesterday was a huge step in getting ready for the dogs to be here. I couldn't do this part alone. I'm friggin' grateful as hell for the generous friends, new and old, who helped with the kennel raisin' party!

- Trish acquired the pieces and parts and was here with her "hip new hip" to give guidance. She's been a wonderful friend and mentor since I went off the deep end and decided to become a dog musher. 😂
- Adam helped me move all of the fencing over here and got a fun finger injury while doing it. Best roommate ever! I wish he could be here, but he's out in the woods doing man things. 😆
- When I asked for an extra set of hands for the build, Meredith and Lindsay came out with great attitudes, skills, and knowledge. It was awesome to get to know them. Yay for new friends!
- Hannah, Joey, and their mini mushers came to help too. I love their enthusiasm and willingness to always be learning more. They are new-ish friends, but quickly becoming old friends. We're going to make Hannah a musher!
- Shout out to Sarah who couldn't make it this time, but was gracious in offering her knowledge, hands, and friendship to someone she barely knows.
- Shout out to Big Bubba (my mom!) for helping me buy a place to put these furry little fu€kers. It's 100% her fault, and her fault alone, that I'm dog crazy! 😆🥰
- Thanks to Nic for keeping the dogs safe, fed, and healthy in the meantime until I can bring them over here.

Y'all.. I feel so grateful and am anxious to pay it forward in this amazing and quirky community of dog-loving people.

All of this stuff can feel pretty intimidating at times, but these people inspire me and give me the confidence to actually make it happen. The learning curve is steep, but valuable and worth it. I cannot WAIT to take the sled out of the driveway for the first time (someone please do a snow dance so that's possible!) These are just some of the wonderful souls who are helping to make that a reality. THANK YOU!!! 🐕🛷❄️💗

Slowly, but surely, it's starting to come together! Thanks for all of the help from all of the wonderful people helping to get us over here. The list is long and full of super special folks with amazing skills, knowledge, and big hearts. We've been out exploring the trails and getting things together for the dogs. Can't wait until they can join us!
