🌷🐐 Spring Herd Health with Harvey Specter!

Harvey is enjoying the fresh grass and sunshine that come with spring but this season is also an important time for large animal veterinary care. Spring is ideal for herd health exams, vaccinations, parasite control to keep animals healthy as they head into pasture season.

At Heartland Vet Care, we proudly provide large animal veterinary services- helping farmers keep their animals healthy all year long.

🐾 Patient of the Week: Bruce! 🐾

We would absolutely love to introduce Bruce, our Patient of the Week! 💙
Bruce is a 1-year-old charcoal Labrador Retriever who recently found his forever home — and he’s already living his best life.

When he’s not stealing socks or playing fetch, you’ll find Bruce happily chewing bones and enjoying his favorite things:
🧊 Ice cubes
🦴 Treats
🐿️ His emotional support squirrel (aka the only toy he hasn’t destroyed)

Bruce’s goofy personality and big Lab heart have completely won us over. We’re so happy to have him as part of the Heartland Vet Care family! 🐶💙

🐾 ✨ Patient(s) of the Week: The Z’z! ✨ 🐾
Meet Zion, Zoey, Zazio, and Zayla — a four-pack of fabulous fluff who keep their family (and everyone who meets them) smiling!

🐶 Zion (15) – “The Original”
Sassy Fluffy Butt, soulful senior, and the boss of the whole operation. She’s got wisdom, attitude, and plenty of heart.

🐶 Zoey (9) – The Adventure Pro
Always ready with a “Let’s go!” Zoey is a title-collecting AKC superstar and the proud family overachiever.

🐶 Zazio (2) – The Wild Child
Wild hair, wild heart, wild everything. He’s the goofy little brother who keeps the whole crew laughing.

🐶 Zayla (2) – Partner in Chaos
Adopted for being impossibly cute…and because Zazio clearly needed a partner in mischief. Now the two are inseparable siblings!

✨ Together, they’re known as The Z’z — a rescue squad bursting with personality, love, and endless fun.
They each shine in their own dog sports, and their owner says they make every day an adventure. 💛

We’re so lucky to have this incredible crew as part of the Heartland Vet Care family! 🐾💙

🌲❤️ Our Staff Pet Tribute Tree ❤️🌲

At Heartland Vet Care, our pets are family too and we wanted a special way to honor them.

This tree in our clinic is dedicated to the beloved pets of our staff. Each ornament represents a furry friend who fills our homes (and hearts!) with love, laughter, and plenty of snuggles.

We hope it brings a little joy to your visit and reminds everyone just how special the bond with our pets truly is. 🐾✨

🐾 Patient of the Week: Katie! 🐾

This week we’re celebrating one of our longtime Heartland favorites — a gentle, loving 9-year-old Doberman who has been part of our clinic family for many years. 💛

She’s as sweet as they come and has handled countless appointments with grace, patience, and that classic Doberman charm. We absolutely adore her and feel so lucky to care for her throughout the years.

Here’s to our loyal girl — thank you for letting us be part of your journey! 🐶🧡

Urinary Blockages in Cats: What Every Cat Parent Should Know

Urinary blockages are a life-threatening emergency, especially in male cats — but the good news is that early signs are easy to spot if you know what to look for. ❤️🐾

😿 What a Blockage Can Look Like:
• Frequently going to the litter box with little or no urine
• Straining or crying while trying to p*e
• Blood in the urine
• Licking at the ge***al area
• Hiding, vomiting, or acting painful
• Seeming restless or unusually tired

🐱 Why It Happens:
A blockage happens when the urethra (the tube that carries urine out) becomes clogged with crystals, debris, or swelling. When urine can’t pass, toxins build up quickly — making it a true emergency.

⏱️ When to Seek Help:
If your cat cannot urinate, don’t wait. Blockages can become fatal in less than 24 hours. Immediate veterinary care is essential.

💛 How We Help at Heartland Vet Care:
Our team can rapidly diagnose and treat urinary blockages with:
• Emergency stabilization
• Catheterization to relieve the blockage
• Pain control & fluids
• Follow-up care to prevent recurrence

🐾 How You Can Help Prevent Future Issues:
• Feed a high-quality diet that supports urinary health
• Encourage hydration (fountains, wet food, extra bowls)
• Reduce stress at home
• Keep an eye out for early urinary changes

Your cat depends on you to notice the little things — and we’re always here to support you every step of the way. 💙 If you ever have concerns, give us a call right away.

🐾 Patient of the Week: Callie! 🐾

Meet Callie — our resilient, blanket-loving queen! This 4-year-old rescue is sure every pillow belongs to her, and despite her Addison’s Disease diagnosis last year, she’s handled her monthly treatments like a total champ. 💪❤️

She’s gentle, hilariously dramatic at bath time, and fully convinced the world revolves around belly rubs and treats.

✨ Fun Facts About Callie:
• She “talks back” anytime the petting stops too soon.
• She insists on sleeping under blankets like a tiny human.
• She has declared squirrels her sworn enemies… but loves every person she meets.

We adore this sweet girl and are so proud to feature her as Heartland Vet Care’s Patient of the Week! 🧡
