We got an update on our beautiful girl Maya..

If you remember this girl came to us from a shelter down south. She had been through a lot but remained such a sweet and gentle girl. She was with us here for over a year before finding an amazing home with a family that loves and treasures her as she deserves.

It was tough to see her go after a year of living here as family… but our ultimate goal is to give them their very own homes with their own families .

The neighbor came over to feed the pigs and fell in love with Ottis today. "He's the perfect dog!" We must agree. He's ready for his forever home but she's at capacity. He's super sweet. Knows his name. Rides well in the car. Takes treats nicely. Highly trainable. Ottis is still building his confidence. He's around 3 years old and weighs-in at about 25 #. UTD on his shots including boosters. Best in an active home with older children. Of course all of our adoptables are spayed and neutered prior to placement. Shout out to Humboldt spay/neuter and Humboldt Humane Critters without Litters for going above and beyond to help control the pet population. We got a great update on our boy Squidly this morning so we wanted to share.
This boy came with his brother and both were so scared.
After months here at KARUNA they turned into the craziest little goofball.
Both were then adopted and Squidly had a hard time readjusting.

But thanks to Sarah’s patience and understanding he is now truly blossoming.

We can’t thank Sarah enough for welcoming him into her family and giving him the safe, loving home he so deserved.

We adopted Squiddy last June 21! What a time of growth for him! He was so happy at Karuna and so frightened at my house. Building on his strengths, we went to dog parks, and he has a bestie named Siri. He has weekly play dates with her. He now can eat without hiding food for later, can wear a leash without cringing, and is finally house trained. He has begun dog training with What a Concept (all-positive) and his confidence has exploded. I love him so much. The photo shows him sharing his chair with his cat sister, Shee-rah (another step forward in trust). Thank you for rescuing him from the kill shelter. Like so many animals trapped by human error, his life is so important.

A busy and very hot weekend here at KARUNA.

Saturday we had a birthday bash for the winner of our bbq, rescue day from our October fundraiser event. Such a great day, wonderful family and happy well behaved dogs.

Sunday was our first new volunteer orientation. We got to meet some amazing new people, all willing to help us with our little rescue, adoption events, fundraising and building projects.

Now another full week ahead, just hoping the temperatures drop a little 🥵

Been very busy here the last few days…

On Saturday our sweet little scruffball Brownie was adopted. A huge thank you to his new family for doing the work to make a safe and fun yard for him and his new sister Stella. We know that he is already so loved 💕

Sunday we were off to the Sequoia park pond to help with the dumped, domestic ducks..
we were met there by an amazing group of people including our dear friends Bruce and Faith who brought our dear little daisy along, all set to help. After a couple of hours we were only able to catch one but will head back later this week to try again.
Louis is doing well, separate from our current residents until we are sure he/she is healthy. Doing much better today. Up and active and very vocal. 🦆

Yesterday it was Maggie and Raz’s turn to head out to their furever home. Adopted together into such a sweet home with a big yard and lots of new toys. Was tough to leave my kissy face Maggie as she spent 24/7 with me while she was here and was just so loving. But I know she will have a wonderful life with her new family and her potato puppy Raz.
