National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 27 provides an opportunity to dispose of unused, unneeded or expired prescription medications—including veterinary prescription medications.

According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. A majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
Proper disposal of prescription medication is important for your family's safety and the environment. Do not flush medications unless specifically instructed to do so on the drug packaging.

Take unneeded and expired medications to Saturday's drug take-back event (https://takebackday.dea.gov/) or a local year-round medication drop-off site.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and anonymous means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications.
