Tonight did not go as planned 😢
baby girl could not get warmed back up enough for her to pull through and we lost her. Nights like this are the hard parts of raising animals. Tomorrow starts a new day, I’ll keep a close eye on the other doe and hope that she has a better outcome.

While babies are one of the best parts about raising livestock, it’s also the toughest part sometimes.

It’s been a roller coaster day for sure. Excited to find this little one this morning doing great. Couples hours later she was super cold and down. Got her warmed up & a little colostrum in her belly. She was doing great. Reintroduced her to mom, still doing great. Checked her a couple hours later and she was cold and down again. Trying to get her warmed up again. If we can pull through tonight looks like I’ll have a bottle baby.

Thank you TM & Co, LLC for the colostrum hook up while this little one gets warmed back up and I can make sure she gets the good stuff into her belly

Our little herd is doing their part to build the numbers of San Clemente Island Goats.

San Clemente Island Goats are listed critically endangered by the The Livestock Conservancy.
