🍪 Did you know horses love cookies too? 🍪

Not just any cookies, of course — these are made just for them! The best part? They’re tasty, healthy, and safe enough for you to share a little snack with your equine buddy. 🐴💛

Here’s the recipe:

4 cups whole flour

½ cup oatmeal or h**p hearts

1 whole egg

1 ¼ cups maple syrup (or filtered water/brown rice syrup for insulin-resistant horses)

1 ¼ cups applesauce

2 tsp pure vanilla extract

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp Saigon cinnamon

1 tsp finely crushed dried mint leaves

Dehydrated maple syrup + unsulfured sundried cranberries for garnish

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Combine all ingredients in a bowl until the dough pulls away from the sides.

Divide into four balls, knead, then roll out each one.

Cut into your favorite cookie shapes and place on the sheet.

Add your garnish toppings.

Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the edges turn golden.

That’s it! With this recipe, you’ll whip up a batch of nutritious, smile-worthy treats your horse will adore. 🐎💕

FOR ADOPTION; RCER had a riding assessment done on Moe today. He is gentle under saddle, doesn't like the Snaffle bit we used, but did great in a hackamore. We feel that he has been a lead line horse in the past and was patient with his rider. He only goes as fast as you make him, should be a nice kids horse.

A big thank you to Mike and the Folks at Ellensburg Les Schwab Tire Center for a set of tires for our Tack Trailer. Your generosity in awarding us with this grant is greatly appreciated by our board and fellow supporters. RCER stores used tack in this trailer, which helps to pay for feed and veterinary services for the equines in our care. Thank you, thank you! https://www.lesschwab.com/.../ellensburg/1206-s-canyon-rd...

Hoof It for Hoof Care! 🐴

With this warm, dry summer, hoof health is more important than ever! Hooves naturally grow year-round, but dry weather, long gaps between trims, and poor hoof quality can lead to problems no horse should have to endure.

✨ Summertime hoof tip: Trim or shoe your horse’s hooves every 6–8 weeks. This keeps them protected and lets you catch issues early.

But hoof care doesn’t stop there! A healthy diet of quality hay, clean water, and the right vitamins and trace minerals is great for overall health and hoof condition. In dry weather, applying hoof moisturizers to the wall and sole can make miles of difference for your equestrian buddy.

So in this stretch of warm, dry days, give your horse’s hooves the TLC they deserve — they’ll thank you with every happy step. ❤️🐎

Myth Busted! The Arabian horse is not the oldest breed in the world! 🐎

While Arabians have been around for over 4,500 years, there are even older breeds that galloped through history long before them. 📜✨

Meet the Caspian horse — small, agile, and enduring. This powerful little horse roamed the ancient lands around the Caspian Sea and nearly vanished from memory. 🏺🌊

Thanks to a remarkable discovery in 2011 (remains dating back to 3,400 B.C.!), the Caspian’s place in history was finally confirmed. It now competes with the Mongolian and Arabian horse for the title of the oldest known horse breed! 🏇

Next time you chat horse breeds, you’ll know the real ancient legends. 💬🐴

You’ve probably heard the old saying, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.”
Well… surprise! Not only will a horse drink—it’ll drink a lot! 🐴💦

On average, a healthy horse can sip up to 10 gallons of water a day—and in warmer weather, that number can jump to 15 gallons or more! Pregnant mares or especially active horses may need even more to stay hydrated and healthy.

As summer rolls in and the sun starts shining brighter, hydration is absolutely essential. 🌞💧 Whether they’re grazing in the pasture or playing in the paddock, our equine companions need plenty of clean, fresh water to thrive.

Did You Know Horses Have a Sense of Humor?

That’s right—our equine friends can be total goofballs! 🐴💫 Horses often engage in playful behaviors that might surprise you: from playing tag with their pasture mates or even their trainers, to mock-fighting, gentle nipping, or knocking over exactly what you were about to grab. Sound familiar? 😄

Dr. Ralston sums it up perfectly: “Geldings tend to be ‘funnier’ and mares tend to be more ‘businesslike.’”
