Just a friendly reminder that kennel cough season is here! ☀️🐶 Kennel cough is more common during the summer months and can happen anywhere dogs spend time together. While it isn't always preventable, there are things we can all do to help reduce the spread.

At No Leash Needed, we take extra precautions by deep cleaning and disinfecting our facility regularly, especially during kennel cough season. We also encourage all pet parents to keep their pups up to date on their required vaccines. Vaccines may not completely prevent kennel cough, but they can help reduce the risk and severity.

If your pup isn't feeling their best or develops a cough, please give them some extra rest at home and check with your veterinarian before returning to daycare or boarding. ❤️

Did you know that most adult dogs sleep 12–14 hours a day, while puppies, seniors, and highly active dogs may need up to 18–20 hours of sleep?

Just like people, dogs use sleep to recharge their bodies and process everything they learned throughout the day. A lack of quality rest can lead to irritability, difficulty focusing during training, and even behavioral issues.

Signs your dog is getting healthy rest:
✅ Wakes up refreshed and ready to play
✅ Maintains a healthy energy level
✅ Learns and retains training more effectively
✅ Appears relaxed and comfortable

This is one reason structured daycare is so beneficial. A great daycare day includes not only play and socialization but also scheduled downtime so dogs can rest, recover, and avoid becoming overstimulated.
