Today, we are celebrating four years of Whisker Station! My staff celebrated me on our two-year anniversary, now I want to celebrate them.

Our final post features Samantha: In the months before we opened, I knew Samantha would be the perfect partner in this new adventure. However, she was young and had her first “grownup job” and was enjoying it. I didn’t dare ask her to leave it for a little cat cafe. As chance would have it, she found herself at a crossroads and decided to leave that job. She asked if I would really want her to be my #2. Well, those of you who frequent the cafe know the answer. Samantha is the backbone of our business and the heart of our mission. Without her there would be no website, no reservation system, no private parties, no pest control (inside joke). At our four-year mark, I would like to celebrate Samantha as an integral partner in Whisker Station Cat Cafe. Almost 800 cats and kittens have found homes because of her dedication. Thousands of human hearts have been touched. And I have enjoyed developing a closer relationship with my niece than I would ever have had. Cheers to you Samantha. I love you and I appreciate you.

A very important announcement for folks who have pets, and especially any Kirkwood residents that allow their cats to go outside. Keep your cats inside to help protect them from natural predators like these coyotes! Catios and harness training are two ways to allow your cat to enjoy the outdoors safely.

The City has received reports of coyote sightings in Northeast Kirkwood. While coyotes are a natural part of our regional ecosystem, it’s important to keep pets safe and avoid attracting wildlife to our neighborhoods.

Here’s what you can do:
🐾 Keep small pets leashed and supervised when they're outside.
🚫 Please don't feed coyotes or leave food out for any wildlife.
💡 Stay aware of your surroundings, especially during dawn and dusk hours when coyotes are most active.

By working together, we can ensure Kirkwood remains a safe place for everyone – our families, our pets, and the local wildlife!

Day 4 of 5 features Phyllis (aka, my mom): Mothers will do anything for their kids, no matter their age. After her initial hesitancy (thinking I was crazy for opening a cat café), she has been my biggest supporter and most dedicated worker bee. She subs on a shift ANYTIME I call that someone can’t make it. Every Monday we clean the whole place together. Over the last four years I have been able to spend more time with my mom than ever, and I am happy we have a common passion to enjoy and have forged a deeper adult relationship together. We don’t say it a lot, but I love my mom and am so happy she has been by my side in this endeavor. Thank you, mom.

Day 3 of 5 is all about Gaby: She has a laid-back attitude and her organizational skills and experience in vet clinics have been a big boost to our professionalism and productivity in year four. Her patience with shy kitties especially is a blessing and a sign that she will have an excellent bedside manner with humans when she graduates with her nursing degree. Since this photo, she has adopted this kitty. We all said, “finally!” Thank you, Gaby, for walking through the door and asking if we were hiring at just the right moment.

Day 2 of 5 features Grace: Our artist! Not only does she have mad skills with chalk pens, but she also fills our Instagram with fun videos and pictures of our adorable kitties on a regular basis. Her ability to connect with customers and make them feel special is frequently noted in feedback we receive after people visit. The kitty pictured found his home as a direct result of one of her posts. Thank you, Grace, for your smile and your joy.

Day 1 of 5 is all about Kirstin: The soul of the cat cafe. She is an empath and uses that skill every minute she greets and engages with customers. Though she is not at the cafe on a regular basis anymore, she is our favorite fill in manager when someone else needs to deal with life or just needs a break. I’m so glad she has been on this four-year journey with me and the rest of the Whisker Station team. She’s a B12 shot just when we need her spark of energy. Thank you, Kirstin!

✨Meet Iggy!✨ Adventurous, fearless, and always up to something. He’ll jump on your back, climb your shoulder, and then purr like crazy—he’s a one-kitten show! 🎪

Are you looking for a cat who is so desperate for your love, he cannot wait three seconds for you to walk over to him? He will simply leap into your arms from across the room, fully trusting your ability to catch him? He does not care if you are bent over cleaning the litter box… Loving on him is more important and he’s not afraid to tell you.

He loves to snuggle and is a very playful guy! Iggy creates strong bonds with other cats and would be lonely without a friend. So, he needs to be adopted with another cat or go to a home with an established cat. Iggy would also do well with cat-friendly dog and has plenty of energy to keep up with young kids. He would love a big family and busy home so he can bask in the attention of as many people as possible. 😉

If you’re ready to invest in some shoulder pads and have prepared yourself for cat acrobatics, Iggy is the guy for you. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered and ready for take off! ✈️

Kirkwood Road: closed between Adams and Monroe
Jefferson: closed between Clay and Taylor
Argonne: closed between Clay and Taylor

We anticipate road closures to begin around 4 PM and reopen by 8 PM.
