Todays featured animal is the Ball Python

🐍 Ball pythons eat about once every week when young and can got to once every few weeks when adults. They feed on different rodents like mice and rats. They should be fed something that’s the same thickness as themselves at their thickest part.
🐍 Ball pythons will eat live or Frozen/Thawed options. Frozen/Thawed is best and recommended especially for when you reach rat sizes as live rats can fight back and harm or even kill your snake. Don’t think it wouldn’t happen to yours. It most certainly can.
🐍 Ball Pythons have lifespan of 20-30 years.
🐍 Ball Python males tend to reach a length of 3 feet, but can get a bit bigger around 4 feet. While females typically average around 4 feet, but have been known to get up to 6 feet.
🐍 There are thousands of color morphs for ball pythons and new colors being forms all the time.
🐍 Ball pythons are one of the most popular kept snake as pets, mostly due to their gentle nature, it’s very unlikely to be bit by a Ball Python.
🐍 Due to the size they get, they should be kept in no smaller than a 40 gallon enclosure for males, and even bigger for females.
🐍 Crowd their enclosure with things like hides on the warm and cool side, branches to climb and help them shed, leaf litter, greenery whether it’s live plants or fake plants.
🐍 Ball pythons are nocturnal animals, but they still should be provided a light source to help them regulate the day/night cycles.
🐍 A large water bowl is great for them. They may not really drink much, but they love to swim and cool off in the water.
🐍 These guys need heat. You can either use a heat mat or a heat lamp or even use both. Be careful with other pets in the house or children if using a heat lamp. Temps should remain around 90 degrees on the warm side and 75 degrees on the cool side.
🐍 Ball pythons need humidity. Make sure to keep humidity around 60-70% and higher at 80% during shedding times. Don’t let humidity get below 50%.
