☀️ 🌡️ Beating the Heat for Small Dogs

Summer is in full swing which means warm weather and fun in the sun. But for small dog owners, the heat can pose risks. Here are some tips to keep your little pup safe and comfortable this season:

- Provide plenty of fresh, cool water at all times. Smaller dogs are more susceptible to dehydration.

- Limit outdoor activity to early mornings and evenings when it's coolest. Avoid midday walks or play when the heat is most intense.

- Protect paws on hot surfaces. Many sidewalks and roads can burn delicate paw pads. Carry your dog if it's too hot outside.

- Never leave your dog in a parked car, even with the windows cracked. Temperatures can rise dangerously fast and cause heatstroke.

- Trim fur short to minimize thick undercoats that don't breathe well. Wipe down coats with a damp towel if they get wet from panting.

- Watch for signs of overheating like heavy panting, increased heart rate, drooling or lethargy. Act fast to cool them down with water if needed.
