Never take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from.

Not every opinion deserves a seat at your table. In a world where everyone has something to say, it’s easy to let outside noise creep in and shake your confidence—but you have to be selective. If you wouldn’t go to that person for guidance, why let their words carry weight in your mind?

The truth is, people who aren’t in the arena don’t understand what it takes to show up, put in the work, and keep going when things aren’t perfect. It’s easy to criticize from the sidelines. It’s much harder to be the one doing the work.

That doesn’t mean you stop listening or refuse feedback—it means you get intentional about who you listen to. Seek out the people who have been where you want to go. The ones who push you, challenge you, and want to see you improve—not the ones who tear you down without offering direction.

Protect your mindset. Guard your confidence. And remember, not all criticism is created equal.

Take advice from those who have earned the right to give it—and let the rest be background noise.
