A kind member of the public took time to reach out to PATH Intl. to share something beautiful she witnessed at Devon Horse Show in PA about the extraordinary camaraderie between PATH Intl. Centers. Read and enjoy!
“Dear PATH Intl. Not sure if you recognize via awards or newsletters, but if you do, I wanted to highlight the beauty that can happen when the community comes together.
This weekend, I was supporting the Therapeutic Riding Division of the Devon Horse Show and witnessed what riding should be about. On Saturday, the riders competed and on Sunday the champions of each division came to the Devon Show Grounds to receive their awards AND compete for the Grand Championship.
A rider from TaKE Center Rehabilitation Services (Kylee) wasn't able to bring the horse to the Devon Show Grounds on Sunday to receive her award or compete in the Grand Championship. Marie Guggenheim and Carol Laulis from Thorncroft Equestrian Center noticed this and immediately started to put a plan together, they were going to try and get one of their horses on a trailer to lend it to her. That's when Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy heard what was going on and offered their 2024 Horse of the Year, Molly, who was at the ceremony to receive her award, to Kylee to ride. The catch was that they didn't have a saddle for Molly since she wasn't being ridden, just receiving the award. That's when Special Equestrians heard about the situation and ran back to their trailer where they had spare tack to lend her.
Kylee was able to ride in the Grand Championships on a borrowed horse with borrowed tack because all three programs were selfless and worked together. To add to the smiles, Kylee ended up winning the Grand Championship!
What a beautiful community your local teams have! I hope you are able to somehow celebrate them.
Thank you for your time,
Chrisanne”
