Four trials were held Thursday at Sam Houston Race Park for the $176,250 Sam Houston Oaks, but the fastest qualifier was clearly established in the first heat when Three Bar T Quarter Horsesβ homebred Bludz Valiant Policy romped to a 4 Β½-length victory with a time of :19.737 for a 105 speed index at 400 yards. Victor Urieta Jr. piloted the 1-20 favorite for trainer Ben Olaveson.
This marked the second straight eye-catching performance for the Texas-bred daughter of Apollitical Blood at Sam Houston, as she kicked off her 3-year-old campaign with a 3 ΒΌ-length triumph against allowance foes on May 2 and earned a 113 speed index for her 350-yard track record time of :17.039. Last year, Bludz Valiant Policy won two of four starts and qualified to the $408,855 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) at Lone Star Park where she finished eighth.
