🏴‍☠️ AHOY, MATEYS! MEET WINKIN’ WILLIE & BLINKIN’ BILL! 🐱⚓️

Arrrgh you looking for a new first mate? Because we’ve got two tiny pirates ready to sail straight into your heart. 🏴‍☠️❤️

Meet Winkin’ Willie and Blinkin’ Bill, two swashbuckling little lads who each happen to be navigating the seven seas with one eye apiece.

But don’t ye worry…

👁️ + 👁️ = 20/20 vision between the pair of ’em! 😂

These boys have adjusted wonderfully to life with one eye and aren’t letting it slow down their adventures. They can still climb the rigging, hunt down rogue toy mice, plunder a bowl of kibble, and launch a surprise attack on an unsuspecting pair of ankles with the best of ’em.

🐶 We Need Your Help Keeping Bellies Full! 🐶

With around 50 dogs in our care on any given day, our shelter goes through more than 1,100 pounds of dry dog food every month. That's a lot of wagging tails to feed!

We're currently in need of dry dog food donations to help us continue providing the care our dogs deserve. Any brand is welcome and greatly appreciated. Every bag—big or small—helps ensure our dogs receive nutritious meals while they wait for their forever homes.

Two different stories. One perfect ending. ❤️

Sometimes the best adoption stories are the ones we never see coming.

Kevin came to us with his littermates during the devastating wildfires that impacted Georgia and North Florida. One by one, every one of his siblings found a home, leaving Kevin behind. When he first arrived, he was incredibly fearful and shut down around new people. With patience, consistency, and the love of our staff and volunteers, Kevin slowly learned that people could be trusted. Before long, he became one of our favorites, a gentle soul we often referred to as "a dog's dog." He always seemed happiest with another canine companion by his side.

Then Weston arrived.

Weston's journey looked remarkably similar. He had been caught in a humane trap after living as a stray and was understandably terrified. Being brought into an animal control shelter only added to his fear. Thankfully, he was placed into a foster home where he blossomed. He learned how to live in a home, became crate trained, worked on housebreaking, gained healthy weight, and most importantly, discovered that people could be kind.

When Weston came to us, we were prepared for him to be shy and shut down as he adjusted back to a shelter environment. Instead, he surprised us. He was social, friendly, and eager to interact with both people and other dogs.

Today, we are thrilled to share that Kevin and Weston were adopted - TOGETHER! 🐾❤️

They went home with a wonderful young couple who have a nice home with a large fenced yard. It is the perfect place for these boys to continue growing together, building confidence, and finally enjoying the life they have always deserved.

Sometimes dogs heal because of people.

Sometimes they heal because of another dog who understands exactly what they have been through.

And sometimes, the dogs who arrive scared, unsure, and overlooked find exactly what they have been waiting for all along: a family willing to see past their fear and love them anyway.

Congratulations, Kevin and Weston. We cannot wait to watch your next chapter unfold. 🏡💕

The Humane Society of Camden County will be closed to the public on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

We will reopen and resume normal business hours on Monday, July 6.

While our doors will be closed to the public, our dedicated staff will continue providing daily care for the animals in our shelter throughout the holiday weekend.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July! Please remember to keep your pets safe during celebrations and fireworks by ensuring they are secured indoors, wearing identification tags, and microchipped if possible.

🇺🇸⭐ Star-Spangled Surprise! ⭐🇺🇸

In the wee hours of the morning, while most of us were still sleeping, Lady Liberty delivered a very special Independence Day surprise!

Our patriotic mama gave birth to five star-spangled kittens overnight, and everyone is doing wonderfully. ❤️🤍💙

Now these tiny firecrackers need a foster home where they can safely grow, thrive, and learn all the important kitten skills over the next 6–8 weeks. Once they’re big enough, they’ll return to the shelter to find their forever homes.

If you’ve been thinking about fostering, this could be your sign from Lady Liberty herself!

Fostering means temporarily opening your home and heart to HSCC animals in special circumstances. It’s incredibly rewarding, and you’re never alone in the process!

🍼 HSCC provides ALL supplies and medical care for fostered pets. Our team stays in regular contact with fosters by phone, email, or text to support you every step of the way.

📌 Fostering Requirements:

• Complete foster paperwork
