Duties
Perform comprehensive grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and styling according to breed standards and customer preferences
Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety during grooming procedures
Assess each dog’s coat, skin, and overall health, alerting pet owners to any concerns that may require veterinary attention
Maintain a clean and sanitary grooming environment by disinfecting tools, tubs, and work areas regularly
Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with pet owners about grooming needs, preferences, and aftercare instructions
Assist with pet handling during drop-off and pick-up processes, ensuring a smooth and friendly experience for clients
Support additional animal care tasks such as pet sitting or kennel duties when needed to enhance overall animal well-being
Skills
Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of breed-specific styles and grooming techniques
Knowledge of dog training principles to manage various temperaments effectively during grooming sessions
Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is highly desirable to recognize health issues early on
Skilled in animal handling, including dog training, pet sitting, and animal restraint methods to ensure safety for both pets and staff
Ability to lift heavy objects such as tubs or equipment safely while maintaining proper body mechanics
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
Familiarity with animal care practices including kennel management, pet care routines, and heavy lifting requirements
