JCT-Rowdy (AKA, Not so Rowdy, Rowdy!) became a first time daddy on Friday, he would have been 11mos old when he did the deed. We will be testing to confirm.... yes he needs brushed out and manscaped again 🤣.

Help us name this sweet heifer!

Her sire is JCT-Rowdy, dam is JCT-Number One (JCT-001).

She is tiny framed and very sweet like Rowdy (yupp completely the opposite of his name). Candice does the name picking, and if she picks the name you commented with, we will send you a hat or shirt once we get new ones made in the next couple of months!

New calf announcement! This heifer calf is suspected to be sired by JCT Rowdy, which would be his first calf. She was born late Friday night (7/31).

This heifer calf is TINY!! Rowdy would have only been 11mos old when he bred Number One (JCT-001). Ironically, Number One is our tallest/biggest mid-sized miniature highland. She is 44" and ~800lbs.

All of her calves have been small, but never this small framed. Her head is smaller than my hand! Rowdy is out of small genetics, so we expect this girl to mature on the smaller side! Genetic testing will be sent off soon to confirm Rowdy is indeed the sire & her color. Chondro is not possible with this pairing.

We traveled to Illinois for the 4th Annual Bret Thye Memorial Kids Fishing Derby, held in honor of James' Uncle Bret. While we were there, our embryo partner, Chad Maschka, reached out and mentioned we were only a few hours away, so we decided to adjust our return travel plans and make the trip to Minnesota.

We're sure glad we did!

We had the opportunity to meet Chad and his beautiful family, tour their amazing dairy operation, and spend time with Titan and Dex, the two calves from our embryo partnership.

It was exciting, fun, and truly awesome to finally see Maskcha's Dairy and Highlands Of Hope in person. Seeing firsthand the care, dedication, and passion that Chad and his family put into their animals made the visit even more special.

After our visit, we made one more stop and picked up some Ellsworth cheese curds. It was especially neat knowing that all of the milk from Maskcha's Dairy goes to Ellsworth, so we got to enjoy a little taste of where their hard work ends up.

A huge thank you to Chad and his family for their hospitality and for taking the time to show us around. Here are some photos and videos from our visit!

Boy howdy was James excited to see Titan! More to come, just wanted to share.
Titan is reserved, but we had to go see him in Minnesota when the opportunity presented itself. Titan was born on the dairy farm we have a partnership with, Maschka Dairy, which is also Highlands Of Hope, in Minnesota.
