Ryder Has Been Safely Trapped! 🐾
After several very scary days and a heartbreaking lack of sightings yesterday, Kelly from Lost Pet Search dogs came out to help with her K9s, Maggie and Dino. Maggie and Dino led us right to a street that gave us the lead we needed.
While searching that area, a resident came outside and asked what we were looking for. When we told her about Ryder, she immediately responded, “Oh, I saw him here yesterday. He had a harness with a blue leash dragging behind him.” This information completely changed the direction of our search.
The CTDGRV Fairfield County Team continued flooding the area with posters, and that effort made all the difference. Today, Ryder was seen throughout the area without his harness and leash. We believe he had become tangled somewhere and was eventually able to free himself. He was even spotted by a volunteer scaling a 6-foot fence, proving just how determined he was to keep moving.
Unfortunately, some well-meaning people were chasing him, making it more difficult for him to settle. But once things quieted down, Ryder began to relax. CTDGRV Pat spotted him coming down the street, and at just the right moment, CTDGRV Jill dropped the trap. Within minutes, Ryder was safely secured.
A special thank you to Mike from Heat Seeker Drone Services for coming out and dedicating his time and expertise in an effort to locate Ryder. We are grateful for everyone who played a role in bringing this boy home safely.
This case is a perfect example of how every piece of information matters, how critical posters are, and why giving a lost dog space can make all the difference.

Update- he is on the run and being chased by well meaning people. Please STOP! If seen, do NOT engage - call/text the # on the flyer asap! Missing in Stamford. This beautiful boy is missing from the Barclay Dr/Merritt Pkwy Exit 8 area. Please do not call out or chase as this will put him in harms way. We need him to settle in one area. If seen, please call/text the number on the flyer ASAP with detail details on when and where you saw him. If you live in the area, please check your security cameras. Let’s get this boy home safe.

This young man here took an actual entire county and MULTIPLE lost pet assistance organizations.
Dante went missing on 5/13/26 in Newtown CT. There were a few sightings when he initially ran off, but after that…..nothing. CT Dog Gone Recovery Volunteer Network contacted us and thankfully we were able to get there 5/15/26. Dino and Eleanor confirmed sightings and pin pointed an area where Dante was moving around. We had activity while we were working so instead of chasing him and making him feel like he needed to find a different “safe space”, with no visuals of Dante - we still pulled back. Half way home Taylor Adams, Dante’s momma, sent me ring camera footage from the night prior which was a new/unknown sighting - it was just “above” where Dino and Eleanor were focusing. That night Mike from Heatseeker Drone Services flew the area. Again no visuals. Dante was slick-when he wanted to be. Posters were being put up in the area the search dogs confirmed. Two days later…..a parade in town. Dante was running all over the place. Which clearly was concerned for many reasons. Mostly his safety. Not only did he evade search dogs and a drone, he also ignored feeding stations, traps and cameras set up by Bonnie, Jill & Melissa with CTDog Gone Recovery. He was moving to the beat of his own drum…..he started to show himself…..kind of “obnoxiously” no less, sunbathing in backyards, driveways and by time (minutes later) Taylor got there-POOF-GONE. Until yesterday. Early evening Dante walked into a neighboring barn and the owner - THANKFULLY - was able to trap him in the barn and leash him. Dante made it very clear he was going to “surrender” when he was ready and ONLY when he was ready. We are ALL very thankful he is back home safe!!!!! If anyone ever wonders how a 70 pound dog evades search dogs, drones AND food…..and is ok doing things his way……ask Dante! Welcome home buddy. I KNOW your family was so very worried about you!!!!

Please share on lost pet posts!
Give them options. Don’t restrict lost pet owners. Allow them to decide what works best for them. And more importantly, allow the professionals the ability to properly evaluate the individual situation to determine what’s best for the lost pet.
