KaleDog A 3rd Generation desert homestead, Kaledog specializes in gardening, indoor hydroponics, graphic design, photography and arts & crafts.

KaleDog Homestead offers seeds, plants, gardening supplies, decor and more via booths at local merchant malls. KaleDog Press is a side project, as a semi-retired graphic designer, I have been working with cut vinyl and custom apparel for over 25 years. As the full time caregiver for a disabled veteran, I have learned to appreciate humor and sarcasm in dealing with our stressful world and have started up this project as a creative outlet that just might spread a little joy in the world. The items that will be offered utilize a blend of commercially sourced designs as well as fully original artwork and for transparency, occasional AI elements. All of the finished products are crafted in house, locally. DTFs available for purchase for home use may be either custom designs and/or commercial overstock. Currently I am not taking custom orders or clients but I do welcome suggestions. A dedicated storefront will not be opening at this time, but I will be partnering with local businesses and events where possible.

Despite the late start and bad soil I did get a small amount of Hopi red dye amaranth to seed. There should be enough seed to get it established next year. This lovely heirloom can reach heights over 6ft and has deep red edible leaves. Traditionally used by the Hopi people to give a pink color to ceremonial breads such as Piki bread. Not a bad result from a 10 yr old open packet of seed I found in the bottom of a drawer.

23 days since I started the new hydroponics, the cotton balls were a complete failure, I had to redo half the plants a bit over a week ago and rehang them with pool noodle. A few of the plants are now ready to harvest and they will also continue to provide for a few months. In contrast, the plants that were seeded in just soil for the baby greens shelf are much smaller, less mature.
